Emirates Lounge Access?

Hi,

As a Qantas Platinum FF can I use the Emirates Lounge when taking any Emirates flight, e.g. Johannesburg (JNB) to Dubai (DXB)?

Or is this restircted to when only flying Emirates to/from Australia?

Thanks !

You can access the lounge anytime that you are departing on an EK flight, so no issue with JNB-DXB

The following would indicate (by omission) status based Emirates lounge access is not available for Qantas Platinum or Gold when travelling from South Africa or the Americas.

Qantas & Emirates | Qantas

...
Qantas Gold, Platinum and Platinum One Frequent Flyers, as well as travellers flying in First or Business cabins, can access Qantas Lounges and Emirates Lounges across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
...
This AusBT article agrees with this:

Qantas frequent flyer Emirates first business class lounge access - Australian Business Traveller

... although there is at least one anecdote where EK lounge access was granted in JNB.

Officially the Americas and South Africa are excluded from the reciprocal lounge access arrangement but it never hurts to ask nicely on the day.

Thanks Serfty !

So officially, I have no Emirates lounge access as a Qantas Platinum in South Africa.

One more question - can I still access the Emirates Lounge in Dubai when flying on an South African Airlways issued ticket that is on a flight operated (codeshare) by Emirates? Or do do I need to have an Emirates issued ticket?

Does the flight have a EK or SA flight number (marketed)?
Who issues the ticket (what ever that means to you) is normally irrelevant

Using Qantas Platinum status on an SA marketed (if it is) on an EK operated (economy?) flight for lounge access may be stretching the friendship.
