Not flying second leg
Hi all, I want to use use FF points to redeem a one-way Business class award flight from LAX to BNE in October. Not surprisingly there aren't any options on QF when I search for direct flights. However, I have noticed that on several dates there are options to go LAX-BNE-HKG. My question is: can I just take the LAX to BNE flight and not connect to HKG?
|
Note, the date I am looking at is Thursday 4 October. QF16 and QF97 are both coming up as available for award redemption in Business.

If you do not have any luggage to check in , then I cannot see it being a problem

Are you sure it's not a case of LAX-BNE being in economy with only BNE-HKG in Business?

You could even book it and then call up and ask for the BNE-HKG leg to be cancelled, as long as they hold your seat on LAX-BNE shouldn't be an issue.
|
Any chance they come back and decide that this was a contravention of award ticket rules and shut down the account?

I'd be careful with this - the booking is USA to SAR HKG, not Oz which while the OP appears to be an OZ resident may (or may not) have implications.

Have you considered something with a domestic connection (eg LAX-BNE-SYD-CGK), same number of points but you don't have to worry about asking them not to through check any luggage, as you will have to collect in BNE anyway.
The only two potential downsides with original route I can see is extra points required, and IRROPS. If something goes wrong with the LAX-BNE flight, they may try rebooking you on CX, LAX-HKG instead. |
