Each way can be different class in the same booking, whether that is same price, cheaper or more expensive varies by country. For example AKL-SYD costs less when bought as a one-way in NZ. No ideal whether that matters for MNL (probably not but worth comparing).

Not possible on the Qantas website. Not possible with any online travel agent that I am aware of.

You'll have to contact Qantas by phone (and pay associated fees) or use a "real" travel agent. It is definitely possible but it seems no one provides an online interface that allows it.

doing one way in economy and one way in business should be quite possible unless there are specific fare rules prohibiting it

It would need to be done over the phone since the QF site doesn't handle such requests

And be aware that the most restrictive conditions will probably apply to the whole ticket.

Only if that is what is in the fare rules

Using Expert Flyer or similar, may be able to see what fare tyoes allow the combination

QF don't allow J and Y mixed bookings, ie. outbound in Y, inbound in J. You can only mix F/J and W/Y.

QF do allow such bookings but they cannot be booked online. You will have to call up. Bear in mind, it's worth checking that the mixed itinerary may be calculated as 2 one-ways and a round-trip J class ticket might be cheaper (or not much more expensive).

If it was priced as 2 one-ways... then it is not allowing half economy half business... Thank you very much.

I am referring to the ability to buy a round trip ticket with the fare calculated using 2 one-ways. That is not half the round trip J fare and half the round trip Y fare which is a different story.

ISTR the QF website (prior to recent enhancements) showing J outbound for AUD1,800.00 ish on Business Sale fare and Y inbound for AUD479.00 economy sale fare when I was checking availability using the link to redeem a voucher.

The availability display seen when following the link to redeem a voucher is somewhat different to the regular one on the website. Besides showing J & Y sale fares it also displayed award seats. Not sure whether that is still the case.

no need to phone. Just email a travel agent.

of course you can mix classes. You really need to talk to a decent travel agent. Not that complicated.

Phone requires less typing and I would book via the airline rather than a travel agent unless there was a compelling reason
