Bonus Status Credits

Would someone confirm/refute my understanding that the bonus status credits awarded (if elected) for 500 SC flown on QF count towards the status credits required for tier calculation?

That is; if on 1350 SC and a bonus is taken bringing you to 1400 that (along with 4 ~) will take you to Platinum.

Thanks

What else would bonus status credits count for? Their sole purpose and value if so for tier status (but P1 and CL are excluded for obvious reasons).

Interestingly when you have the choice of 8K points of 50 sc'S there's three months to decide.

If you decide on SC then they post in the "yesr" you select them in.

e.g. If you earned the bonus option on 10th September and your QF year ends on the 31st October you can choose to have them credit to your current "year" or your next "year".

is that correct? most FFP awards points on flight date so i would have thought loyalty bonus gets retrostopic applied...

but if so, it make sense to say cross your 500 and 1k SC threshold within final 3mth of membership and after new yesr start you "select" SC bonus to apply the 100 bonus SC to following year. this could alter my flying pattern

It seems to be the way it works, so I am holding on to a loyalty bonus until my year ticks over.

The loyalty bonus doesn't really belong to a given flights, so they would need to track it (say by issue date), but they don't seem to bother.

SC Loyalty bonus is awarded in the year it is claimed.

Would make no sense for:
  • Eligible for SC Bonus
  • Year End - SCs Wiped
  • SC Bonus Claimed
  • SCs retrospectively awarded for previous (wiped) year

I held off applying for my latest Bonus SCs until after my SCs had been wiped in the new year. Wham! ... 50SC jump-start at the beginning of the new year.

Thank you very much!!

Regards,

BD

works both ways... i am 20 SC shy of next bonus and already requalified WP... status rolls May... so i gotta stop flying qantas until march next year so i can claim when status rolls?

maybe they should give options to members to claim current membership year or hold off to next cycle? i am not after P1 and if regular flying alone can net 1200 SC i rather "save" the bonus to next year in case flying drops...

8000 points is as good as toilet paper... if option was 25k qantas point or 50 SC choice becomes lot harder
