QF 127/128 SYD HKG A380 - how to snag F seats?

Couldn't find anything on FT for this specific route where the F cabin is sold as J.

Am AA EXP (OW Emerald). F seat map is greyed out online under manage my booking when trying to select seats.

Flight is not in a couple of months, anyone know when QF will (if ever) release these seats to non-QF FFPs?

Thanks!

At the moment A380 scheduled in high demand periods but F sold as J.

Once QF9/10 moves to the 787 (23 March 2018) I wouldn't be surprised to see this route become all A380 and F sold as F

baclubflyer - are you oneworld elite?
Otherwise Qantas generally operates on a T-80 (ie 80hrs before departure) system for blocked seats depending on loads. If light loads they will often continue to block seats (shadows) for elites

They note "Am AA EXP (OW Emerald)".

Not sure about T-80 for international flights; certainly Domestic.

Keeping a lookout in the five or so days before an Int. flight can be productive.

IME T-80 definitely does apply for international flights.

Thanks all for your replies.

I am indeed OW Emerald (AA EXP) and travel is for Dec and flight is for sure operated by an A380 (at least as of now)

I've attached below the screenshots from both FT and QF for the same flight.

As EF shows, F is clearly bookable but my guess is only to QF elites at this stage. My AA EXP number is loaded to my booking and reflects as such.

Having said that, it does allow me to book the mini cabin (rows 11-13), which was greyed out before I put in my AA EXP FFP number into the booking and only released after I loaded FFP details. So suggests that QF does hold up different seats for different categories of elites.

Anyone have any experience snagging the F seats as a OW Emerald?

I've snagged 1A as QF Silver (Ruby). Got on at T-80.

The F cabin was mostly empty. Only 5 in the whole cabin and I was the only one in the A aisle.

Seems as though people don't cotton on.

I discovered that one of my flights next month had been swapped to the A380.
only found through reviewing manage my booking and changing seats. I am QF WP and the f cabin was empty when I moved seats.
since then the flight got swapped back to 744 and then back again. Each time it didn't automatically put me back in the F cabin.
