Award booking seat selection

I have two domestic flights later this year that were booked using Avios. I was able to select seats immediately but the whole front section of the plane is greyed out and I'm certain it's not because the seats are taken (I booked many many months ahead).

Q: will the remaining "better" seats become available at one point? 24 hrs before? At the airport only?

Thanks

I assume you have no QF or OW status? If so, then assume T-80 hours is when everything becomes available. Be quick at EXACTLY T-80 hours.

And keep looking from T-80 to closer to departure, as other people move seats.
