There's a sale on for flights which, sadly, finishes tonight.
e.g. Qantas BNE-SYD $105 rather than $171.
Hard to book as there's a $99 change fee in that.
I mention that as it is getting to the best time to book February Flights - there's likely to be another such sale in the next six weeks.
But to do this booking, really need to know what time to be in SYD Saturday 24th and what time to look to depart SYD Sunday 25th.
e.g. Qantas BNE-SYD $105 rather than $171.

Oops have jumped the gun and made some flights redemption as I had to use about to expire MH points. Will be arriving at 1025. Hopefully can play catch up 😳 if things start too early.
Do not ever try to use MH points for redemption on other one world airlines. There’s only a telephone to do the booking. It’s not the points value but the whole process is a major time consuming exercise that took 3 days, 4 phone calls and 5 hours later due to the system being unable to price the taxes and being put on hold - just for one flight!

I have booked Friday evening up to SYD and Sunday evening back to MEL.

Currently going through the post and PM's updating the listing and then back to my QF contacts.
Edit: Now finished my update. Numbers may be a problem, so am awaiting response from my QF contacts. As it has always been, it is the order in which you respond to the thread (first in, best dressed). If subsequently there is a change (particularly firming from anything to Platinum), it is the order in which you responded initially that is the key differentiator. So some showing as Platinum may miss out if the number are fixed below your current number. You will then need others to pull out to climb the number ladder. Sounds like a QF upgrade request, doesn't it...
