Hi, is it possible to join? I'm in Brisbane but not flying that day.

If yes, then am Gold and would really like to visit the catering facilities 😁.

Only QF silver but am also Qantas Club member if that helps?

Thanks.

I can say I'm Gold for the AGM and certainly would love if it was possible to do a catering tour.
For once, I don't have an interstate meeting on that weekend!

Okay, I'm back with a little bit of good news. I had a chat last week with the ex-Qld RGM and REd Roo (and have a scheduled chat with Red Roo this afternoon).

Today I had an email from the Customer Experience staff at BNE:

QCatering have advised that Saturday afternoons are not the best time to have a tour of the facility due to very limited activity happening. There is also only skeleton staff rostered on.

Your group will not get a true catering experience if we schedule the tour time for 1300.

The best time for your group to experience the facility in full swing with staff operating the machines, plating up food, etc would be in the morning.
Our suggestion would be a 10.00am tour commencement time……………………….is this feasible with your group?
My response was:

We don’t want to be there during a busy period if this is going to affect the on-time delivery of the meals to the airport. Whilst last year we had considered a 1pm start with [ex qld RGM] (as this was the timing of the maintenance hangar famil), perhaps we could do an earlier start than 1pm to access a more fully functioning QCatering.
So I will update the opening posts (list of attendees and flight details) to see who this affects.

They also advised details of the famil (I will also transfer to the earlier posts):

We can accommodate a maximum of 40 participants.
The group will be broken down into 4 groups of 10.
We have 2 hygiene stations.
The first 20 guests will be suited up and ready to enter the facility – one group at each station.
Approximately 10mins later the next 20 guests will suit up and enter a hygiene station.
The tour will take approximately 1hr going around to the various sections of the facility.
Each group will have 2 QCatering staff attending – one at the front of the group and one at the rear for OH&S purposes.

After the tour light refreshments can be arranged.

The following are requirements for any visitors without Red ASIC’s to the Brisbane Catering Facility
Drivers Licence with photo showing:-
Full Name
DOB
Full Address

Closed in footwear is required to enter the facility
No jewellery is to be worn in the facility other than a plain band wedding ring
Hair will be covered with hair nets – provided
Any facial hair will also be covered – nets provided.
Ladies are requested to wear pants if possible due to the inconvenience they will face putting the suits over skirts/dresses.
Now I will compare the ID's I am holding versus attendees and also whether they ID's are still valid. I will post a list of both those attendees where I hold your valid ID's and another of those attendees for whom I need valid ID's. We have have one amongst us who has a Red ASIC

Great work QF WP as always.

I think your comment re not wanting to impact on the operations of the facilitiy is a very valid one, though I can see clearly they (reading between the lines) probably would rather not later due to potentially having to get extra staff in to look after us. I like the idea of a little later than 10 to fit in with everyonne. See what they come back with I guess

(side note - so the food before that 7pm domestic flight will be frozen up for how long prior to flight? )

A morning tour obviously impacts on people from out of town coming in earlier but given the effort QF are going to to host us it's understandable.

looking forward to future updates
