Avoid losing QF points

I need a quick purchase to avoid losing a fist full of QF points. I'm UK based, if I purchase an activity for November will that stop me losing my points? If not other than flying how do I get some points posted this week to avoid losing them. Buy points??

The quick summary is:
Earn points
If time is of the essence I would recommend car hire, a hotel or Qantas Cash if you have your card set up (although I seem to recall this may only work for Australian residents). You could also send a nice friend in Australia a dozen bottles of wine from Cellarmasters - don't get knocked over by the rush of volunteers! If you can figure it out you may also be able to shop on Ebay.
I think there also other posts on this topic if you search this forum.

Buying points seems a good idea - at least you'll use the product!
Anyone in oz that can use a woolworths temporary card on your behalf if you don't have one already? From memory I think I got mine from the grocery store then linked it online. Had the plastic one to come sent to friends address. Would be easy enough for someone to walk in and do, then take pics of the pamphlet to email to you to takeover the linking online, then they keep the card for 18 monthly purchase. Can't remember if there's a minimum purchase - maybe $30? They just need to swipe your card through on ONE of their grocery shops in 18 months, you don't actually need to shell out $$ for it.

I've seen other threads with people in the same situation if you search this forum with a number of replies/solutions.

$30.75 got zero points. A fraction over $31 got 1 point.

That's intriguing someone's experimented with that! So....what you're saying is find a friend with 6 kids then as they'll have a massive grocery bill! :)

Have to admit my shops are generally over $30 by a fair bit. If a friend asked me to swipe a card through on one of my shops for them I'd do it. I wouldn't scrap over the points mainly because what you get isn't anything to write home about and I fly anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I think I would maybe leave the plastic card with a friend and carry the temporary card with me (maybe even laminate it to last longer) just in case I needed activity points!

Anyway, hope it's an option for the OP although I think if time were a big factor then doing a few clicks online buying points or something else would abate the stress because then it's done!

Has been reported before that asking for new ff card costs 1000 points and resets the clock.

Purchasing a flight for November will not count until November when you fly

Not sure what you mean by activity but points for car rental or hotel will only post after the rental or stay, and maybe with considerable delay.

Points purchase is only for top-up to redeem an award (i.e. you actually need to cash some in at the time you buy the points).

You may wish to try the Qantas Toolbar - use an alternative web browser (such as Palemoon) to access it. Points for searches this month should post early October IIRC, if not, then November.

Thanks for the advice. I realised I've a BA flight in a couple of weeks and the executive club have changed it from a BA to QF ff number so problem solved!

A couple of bits of advice: Have a look at your booking on checkmytrip to make sure that the change of FF number has been effective in Amadeus; and also see whether it appears in your QFFF account when you log in. And then on the day of travel, make sure that it's your QF number that's printed on your boarding pass; if it isn't, get this fixed before you fly.

you could fly domestically in the UK with BA and enjoy a long weekend, flights can be as cheap as £90 return as is my experience from LBA to LHR

If I needed only one segment or to earn 1 point like the OP, I'd take the train to Leeds and fly back (or fly then train if starting from up north :D)

The LHR service charge can be more than the train ticket even 1 month out.
