Australia Lounge Questions
We will be flying within Australia using Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne airports. All flights will be on Qantas; however, we have no status either with the airline or with One World. We do have Priority Pass, Amex platinum, and Star Alliance Gold. Are there any lounges at these three locations that we will be able to access? Would it make a difference if we used Virgin Australia rather than Qantas?
As always, thanks for the help.

If these are domestic segments, then without oneworld status or a "Qantas Club" membership unless you are travelling business class (or on AA codeshares with Admirals Club membership) then there is no lounge access.
It may be different for some international flights. What are your actual routes.

If you have an American Express Platinum Charge card, then yes it would make a difference if you were to choose Virgin Australia
The Platinum Charge card does afford access to the Virgin Lounges when travelling on Virgin
For travel on Qantas, none of those will provide lounge access

Lounges
Flying QF your priority pass is worthless, *A SG is worthless too.
OW and *A are opposition.
Pay for an annual membership with QP is the only way, + 1 guest annual pass.

Purchase an AA 30 Day membership
This gives you all the benefits of the AA Admirals club - including reciprocal access to Qantas Clubs/Qantas Business Lounges
It's $99 for 30 days.

It only provides access should the passenger be departing on a AA marketed flight operated by Qantas, not on a Qantas flight
For lounge access, the OP is sorted if he simply flies on Virgin if, as implied, he has an American Express Platinum Charge Card

Lounges in MEL
What QF lounges are available in MEL when flying domestic J after coming off international F? Is the First Class Lounge an option or is that in the international terminal?
Another question, are the CX flights from MEL near the First Class QF lounge or does CX have their own lounge in MEL?

Cathay Pacific has its own lounge, though if holding OW Emerald status, the Qantas 1st class lounge is a better bet if travelling at a time of day when it is open ( 0530-1830 )
