For access to the Qantas First Lounge at TBIT just one of the following needs to be true:
  1. Non US (not AAdvantage and not Mileage Plan) oneworld Emerald departing on a oneworld Marketed and operated flight.
  2. AAdvantage or Mileage Plan Emerald departing on a oneworld Marketed and Operated flight NOT solely on a "North American* Itinerary".
  3. First Class passengers departing on a oneworld Marketed and Operated flight not solely on a "North American* Itinerary".
  4. Passengers in First Class on a flight longer than five hours connectingß to/from an international or domestic short haul (five hours or less) oneworld Marketed and Operated flight and not solely on a "North American* Itinerary".
  5. *Recent Reports Indicate Access via the following Criteria is being Denied with patrons being sent to the Flagship Lounge in T4*: .First Class passengers^ travelling on a three class transcontinental American Airlines Marketed and Operated flight on a designated route (e.g. between Los Angeles & New York).
* A "North American* Itinerary" for AAdvantage elites is travel on solely domestic flights within the U.S. or between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean. A "North American* Itinerary" for Alaska Mileage Plan elites is travel to destinations in the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico (unless they are connecting to or from an international long-haul flight in a premium cabin on the same day).

ß Connecting the same day or before 6am the following day. Such Lounge access is based on the class of services of the long haul flight (First or Business) regardless of the class of travel on the short haul flight.

^ Regarding AA EXP in any cabin. This is a "Class of Service" based access, so status should not be relevant. Rules indicate NO ACCESS unless in First on 3 class transcon, but there had been some contradictory experiences about this. Early on EXP based access had sometimes been granted; not so much these days. Presumably this related to confusion about the rules on behalf of the agents.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING, YOUR QUESTION MAY BE ANSWERED HEREIN

Lounge access rules

All non-AA and Non-AS Oneworld Emerald members have access to this lounge on any oneworld itinerary regardless of cabin or final destination.

AA EXP have access when traveling to all destinations outside North America and Mexico City. Includes if pax is flying LAX-DFW-LHR because you are flying internationally that day.

No Class of Service access for domestic F without non AA and non AS Emerald status unless on designated (generally 3-class) flights to JFK and MIA.

Passengers on any 3-cabin AA flight to JFK, BOS or MIA in First Class.

Emirates pax do not have access except for Qantas Platinum One. EDIT: Appears to be that Qantas removed that access criteria from their lounge access page so I wouldn't count on this working.

No access if connecting to a non-Oneworld airline or partner.

Separate tickets within oneworld do not matter other than it has to be same day . E.g. QF F to AA Y on the same day.

To walk from T4 to TBIT will take approximately 10 minutes one way so plan accordingly if visiting this lounge.

The rules are here: (read the various disclaimers at the end)

They refer to here:

Reports are departures access is being denied despite those rules

If I fly into LAX at 4:49 pm and my next flight is at 5:00 AM the next day, will I have access to QF F? I rather not get a hotel and just stay airside the entire time.

Have you checked if the QF F lounge will be open?
QF flights to AU leave mid-late evening, so would not expect to be open at say 02:00.

Opening hours are: 6.30am until the last Qantas flight departure .

It will close when they call boarding for QF 12 or 94 depending on the day of the week.

But it does open early. And he can hang in FL til 1am. Or even later if he tries to just hide in FFD or the last room before FFD.

Had a 5 hour delay Saturday and I just took out my blanket , flat sheet and pillow and slept 2.5 hours uninterrupted on the long couch like seat in the middle of the private room before FFD.

With my example, there is no way QF will be closed at that time. Iíll still have a few hours before QF 12/94 departs. So can I access QF even if my AA flight is the following day at 5 AM? What if it leaves at 7 AM?

I could be wrong but I donít think they will allow you access with a BP departing the next day and the lounge closing the day prior to your departure.

What oneworld status do you have and with which carrier? What would your itinerary be?

Really cannot answer without more information.

You'll have access when you arrive to LAX since your next flight is before 6:AM the next day. However, as noted, it will close for several hours after the last QF flight departs after midnight so you can't take a nap in there during the closed hours.

The AA Flagship Lounge is open until 1:30am or therabouts, so that provides an option after the QF lounge closes--but then you'll have a three hour gap until it reopens at 4:30am. There is nowhere comfortable to be in that interim period. Given your 12 hour layover I would strongly recommend an airport hotel. If you stay at the Hyatt or near there you can walk to Sam First for the evening, which is an excellent jazz club. Then, get some sleep and go back to the terminal when stuff reopens...

I've done an overnight at LAX before. It's doable. AA FL closes at 1 AM. I just headed to the seating area and lay down over there. There are outlets. I went back to AA FL when it reopened at 4:30 AM for breakfast.

Given BAEC based Emerald and (presumably) flying oneworld then "by the Rules" you should have Qantas First lounge access until they close as indicated by teemuflyer.

However, don't discount the possibility the Qantas First lounge Agents fail to understand the rules correctly and deny access.

You may have a brief window to visit the oneworld TBIT lounge as it is open until the last BA/QF/CX flight boards or 11pm whichever is later.

QF First Lounge at LAX

Iím QF WP and will be arriving into LAX on an AA flight but connecting to a non-OW flight. Just trying to work out if I can gain access to the QF First lounge being WP and my arrival flight being on a OW airline?

I canít seem to find a definitive answer although in another thread with a similar scenario it was suggested that you can gain access to the AA Flagship First lounge based on your arrival flight, though Iím not convinced that is case. Does anybody have first hand experience on this question?
