QF 11/12 over Christmas

I'm scheduled to be on QF 12 on Dec 23 and was looking at the flight schedule. It's still on the A380 but noticed that QF 11 is not scheduled to operate on Dec 25 moving back to LAX. I'm also the only one booked in First still and the flight looks pretty empty on expertflyer (I know seats aren't assigned until 24 hours out without paying the fee).

Does anyone see risk of an impending equipment change here? Perhaps it's too early to tell.... It's my first international premium cabin flight and noticed there have been several swaps to the 744 on QF12 lately. Wanted to brace myself just in case...

I believe F passengers can get seat assignment in advance without a fee - although selection may be restricted. If OW Emerald you can get any seat in advance. First many times does fill up until the end.

On QF 94 the other day in F and many empty seats until the end. But looks like some J passengers got a free upgrade on oversold J (overheard).

QF processes upgrades up until boarding so op-ups fall after this.

Flight is probably very light on loads due to the fact that you land in on Chrissy day and with people wanting to get to SYD before hand. The flight on 21st December has F1 and A0, while business is fairly open.

Seating for First Class pax are free without restriction. I booked my F Flight SYD-LHR with AA miles and had no issues with booking a seat.

Enjoy the flight and your Christmas down under

I've picked out my seat and as of today I still have the whole cabin to myself! Crossing my fingers the A380 flies despite the light load.

I usually fly to LAX on Christmas day each year, and for the past 6-7 years they have always combined the 2 flights out of SYD (QF107 & QF11) to the one flight (QF107), and since the A380's have been on fleet they have used one of these over a 744.

If you look at QF107 it is scheduled as an A380 that day, I believe the aircraft from QF15 is used for the JFK sector
