Happy 94th Birthday Qantas!

Today (Nov. 16th in Australia) Qantas is celebrating their 94th year in service! Qantas was founded on November 16, 1920. They continue to be the oldest continuously operating airline in the world!

Happy Birthday Qantas!

KLM ceased operations when The Netherlands was occupied during WW2, perhaps "continuously operating" would have been a slightly better phraseology.

KLM continued to fly under both their own registration between Indonesia and Australia, the Carribean and BOAC registration in Europe.

Their operation was continuous.

KLM is the oldest operating airline . The only way such a claim can be made about Qantas is if the limited operations of KLM during WWII are glossed over and conveniantly overlooked.

There were no operations from the Netherlands , but KLM still operated in Dutch Antilles during the war period

Unless KLM ceases to exist , Qantas will continue to be the 2nd oldest continuously operating airline

Wow... such haters. How many companies can you say have been around for the next 94 years?!

Of the companies on the Fortune 500 list in 1999 only 50% were around in 2009.

In 1955? Only ~70 today.

Happy birthday Qantas!

How do you equate disliking factual inaccuracy with hatred?

as an aside , given that Qantas is a company and not a living entiity that was actually born, how can it have an anniversary of its birth

It is is its birthday though, what presents did people here send it

Qantas can't make the claim unless they gloss over their entire fleet grounding during the management/union dispute.

If the argument is put forward KLM ceased operations, you have to accept QF did as well!

The entire fleet was not grounded. Qantas Link & QF New Zealand (Jetconnect) continued to fly.

I only care that QF makes it to 100 yrs and older. I still want to get the occasional bonus for the FF points that are accumulated. The QF spin people can parallel our politicians to say anything and hope we believe it.
