Using QF points for CX ticket

The QF staff then offered me a premium economy seat on the same flight CX889 on 27MAY for the same number of points as required for a business seat for that route.
The curious thing is that the CX website did not show any availability for CX889 in premium economy.
I can understand when availability on CX metal is not necessarily available for QF points, but how is it possible for QF to have premium economy for a particular flight on CX metal available when CX itself does not have it available?

I checked with MPO - CX837 and CX889 still has PE(T) award on 27 May
I checked the availability via CX.com, QF.com and BA.com. Nobody shows the T availability for 27 May, but given MPO confirmed the availability I'm pretty sure its there
Another PE discrepancy but this time even QF.com and BA.com can show it https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...screpancy.html

Update and new questions
Thank you, percysmith.
I just spoke to QF by telephone again -- very pleasant representative.
Here is an update of the situation:
1. The QF points required for one-way YVR-HKG-CKG on CX with business/business is correctly quoted as 104,000, of which 92,000 is for the long-haul in business and 12,000 is for the regional connection in business.
2. The points required for one-way YVR-HKG-CKG with mixed premiumeconomy/business is (wrongfully) quoted at 101,000, of which 75,000 is for the long-haul in premium economy and 26,000 is for the regional connection in business -- which is the stand-alone price for the HKG-CKG leg in business. The correct total for the mixed legs should be 87,000 (=75,000+12000). I asked the QF lady to report this quoting problem and also to fix the spelling for Chongqing in the city list.
3. CX website is showing 2 seats in business available for CX889 on 03JUN night flight which works for us, but QF website and telephone both say they have nothing available using QF awards. The QF staff suggested calling CX to request that they hold/assign that award seat availability to QF for us. Trying to get through on the phone now but MPC and reservations lines both busy.
Does anyone have experience with whether CX will make those award seats, which show as available on CX, available for QF points? I think CX889 is not categorically blocked for QF awards because QF website does show a business seat available on CX889 for 11JUN.
Another question please:
If we do get the correct quote at 87,000 QF points for the mixed class of premiumeconomy for YVR-HKG and then business for HKG-CKG, I believe we should have CX departure lounge access in HKG but will we also be able to have business luggage allowance all the way through from YVR (the two flight legs are simply a transfer on the same PNR)?
Thanks !

Update
Thank you, KVS, ... very impressive and comprehensive software. I downloaded and paid for the 2-month diamond access. It does reveal the notable difference in availability on CX metal viewed from CX versus viewed from QF.
Today I saw both CX and QF showed availability of 2 business seats on the main leg YVR-HKG for CX837 day-flight on both 26MAY and 27MAY. It is not quite as convenient as CX889 night-flight since we will have to stay overnight in HKG, but at this point I expect it will be very unlikely to get 2 business seats available on CX889 in late MAY.
Anyway, I also saw the pair of business seats on both days available on QF website, which also showed the regional connection available in business for 29th morning (KA842) and only economy for 28th afternoon (KA840) but had to call them by telephone as the online system doesn't show anything for all-the-way through.
Strangely enough, the QF lady (again very friendly) said that she could only see the pair of business seats for CX837 on 26MAY and not on 27MAY -- although I could see the latter online.
Also, she said that the points required for business on 26th connecting to economy on 28th would be the same as the 104,000 points required for business-business. Is this really the case?
Well, I was going to just book the 27th myself online but encountered another complication -- I need to purchase a few extra points to secure the tickets but the Frequent Flyer program office is closed on the weekend !
Hope the availability will last until Monday morning (Sydney time).
By the way, following my notification, the Qantas IT department did in fact update the spelling for Chongqing on the QF website drop-down city list ! I wish Air Canada could be so responsive and finally add Singapore to their drop-down city list (for customer address) !

KVS
Hi KVS
Thanks for the link to the great tips on how to deal with discrepancies for apparent availability between the system and telephone staff !
The KVS Tool mentions that JL-OneWorld is the best Method to use for OneWorld awards on CX metal, but could you please clarify the following observation:
On both 26MAY and 27MAY, CX837 for HKG-YVR is currently showing 2 business seats available when using either OneWorld or CX-OneWorld (ie. entering 2 seats results in CS+ for both methods on both dates), but using JL-OneWorld results in CS0 on both dates.
How is this possible? Is it a function of status on the JL account?
EDIT -- I just noticed from your printout that you are using JL-OneWorld with regional code 'US', but mine is regional code 'S' (asia-pacific), so that might be the cause of the different results using JL-OneWorld.
Thanks

Resolution
Hi KVS
Just want to thank you again about the KVS Tool. It was very useful.
As it turned out, a single seat in F turned up for the preferred CX889 night flight on 27MAY, and was actually accessible on the QF website, so I took it.
There weren't any other award seats available on that flight in F or J or PE via Qantas, so I paid for a cash PE ticket via CX direct just to be sure we are on the same flight.
