Asian Network Changes
Qantas have posted to the ASX details of changes to the Asian network.
Bit sad for Perth as PER-HKG is getting the chop, and PER-SIN is reducing to once a day (albeit better timed)

Changes are:
ADL-SIN and PER-HKG routes will be cut.
PER-SIN route reduced from 2x daily to 1x daily.
FRA will now be cut from April 2013.
SYD-SIN will increase to double daily.
BNE-HKG will increase to daily.
SYD-HKG reduced from current 11 services per week to daily.
Intl config A330s will probably get a cabin upgrade, new biz class.
Not all good news!

Just another reason for me to give up on flying Qantas I guess.
QF67 outbound to HKG wasn't that convenient for me when they retimed it, but QF68 coming back was great as I use HKG quite often as a conduit for a cheaper flight elsewhere...and CX is generally quite pricy especially for one way flights.

[actually no mod hat, just groumpy] Virtual airline [/actually not mod hat, just groumpy]
This is just sad. QF doesn't seem to be able to make routes work.

Quite..it takes the average witted reader a few seconds to realise that this is a message about cuts, not improvements.
The sentences about "considering" improvements to the A330 biz class and the long list of destinations under consideration (both with absolutely no commitment) smack of a PR department desperate to include something positive. Reminds me of the Monty Python knight battling on as all his limbs are chopped off...

As a newish QF flyer, does this partially explain why biz awards to BKK or HKG late this year on QF seem rare to the point of unavailable, yet CX shows as partner availability....?

thai-kiwi...I think so... I expect it to stay that way until they have processed all passengers from cancelled flights onto the remaining ones and things settle down.
