AC interline to QF

Im flying YVR-SYD-MEL-SYD-YVR on AC and QF in Y, on the same ticket and have a couple of questions that i hope you can help me with

im *Gold with AC, but no status with QF

1. Will i only have lounge access at YVR (MLL) and SYD ( KORU & Silver Kris)?
2. My baggage will be thru checked to my final destination both ways?
3. On my return portion (MEL-YVR) what will be my baggage allowance? Im guessing Qantas will not honor *G status and restrict me to 2 x 23kg checked baggage.
4. Considering Q.3 is correct, if i was to upgrade my MEL - SYD flight to J, would Qantas allow me to use theyre "Americas" business allowance and allow 3 x 32kg bags?

You won't have lounge access in SYD as you will be travelling domestically on a non-aligned carrier who doesn't recognise your status (Qantas).

Whilst your bags will be checked through to MEL, you will need to collect them in SYD, clear customs and immigration, and then proceed to the Qantas transfer area outside security. Drop your bags, get your BP, get the bus and you're done.

Qantas should give you your AC allowance if you are lucky on your return, but YMMV. You may find that you are restricted to their domestic allowance, since that's as far as they're taking you, at 1x23kg for Y or 2x32 for J if you get a poor agent. I have found that interlining generally means you get what the other carrier lets you have, so it's worth having some documentation there for them to refer to.

But isn't AC the MSC because they are the TPAC carrier?

I was thinking on the SYD-YVR leg?

Off the qantas website: International Travel is defined as travel between two or more countries including any flights within those countries when they are combined with international travel on the same ticket.

So on the way back, i would get 2x 23kg, as its a "americas" destination. But if i was to upgrade the MEL-SYD leg, would i get international J baggage allowance?

You will not have access to any lounges for your SYD-MEL or MEL-SYD legs. You'll have access to any *Gold accessible lounges prior to your long haul flights.

You will collect your baggage in SYD upon entering Australia, then recheck with Qantas at the transfer area. Coming back, bags will be checked through from MEL. (this is only due to the flights being on the same ticket. If the AC and QF flights were not on the same ticket, QF wouldn't check them through. QF will only check bags across tickets to another oneworld member.)

Under new IATA rules, the AC baggage rules apply to the entire ticket.

But that is for the AC baggage entitlement, and excludes any FF based extra baggage allowance. This is a rather ungenerous 1 bag of 23kg maximum :) so might be better off without the IATA MSC rule :) :) :)
Buying J for MEL-SYD is likely to work in getting you the 3x32kg QF allowance, whether or not that is the official policy. Note that it must be purchased J and not an upgrade (I've seen that happen).

Just to clarify MSC in this case.

There are two journies, but in each case AC is the MSC.

If AC have filed additional baggage for their elites with APTCO then the full AC elite in Y allowance would be available both ways - but it is likely they have not.

What does your e-ticket indiacate for check allowance?

(FWIW, what reservation system (GDS) do AC employ?)

AC baggage allowance for non-status passengers is 1 pc at 23kg.
