Classic Awards Points Increase - surcharges
Changes to points for surcharges, fees and taxes on domestic Australian and New Zealand Classic Awards
Due to higher fuel costs, the points required when paying for surcharges, fees and taxes on domestic Classic Award flights in Australia and New Zealand are changing. For bookings from 1 April 2012, the charge will increase from 4,500 to 4,850 points. Then, for bookings from 1 July 2012 for domestic Classic Award flights in Australia only, the points required will further increase from 4,850 to 5,250 points, due to the carbon price system.

Stupid situation - it costs more to get those points - so each point has a higher dollar value when earnt - and now they are increasing the points required to spend them - thereby reducing their value when spent. Win/win for QF, lose/lose for us poor suckers.
