SIN transit times
 

Hi everyone

I'm hoping someone would be able to help with transit times.

I'm currently booked on QF10 leaving SIN at 1955 (as most of you know).
If I get on CX735 from HKG to SIN which is scheduled to arrive at 1810:

1. Can I get bags checked from HKG thru to MEL?
2. Is that sufficient time and would CX/QF be happy with that transit time?

They're on different PNRs.

I did that exact same connection last year. Had no major problems, though both my flights were on the same PNR (last 2 sectors of a DAS13). Had to get the QF10 boarding pass at SIN transit desk as they didn't issue it at my starting point (ICN) and wouldn't issue it at HKG. Had time for some food and a shower up at the QF lounges. CX735 also had to do a TOGA. Had a rain storm and wind shear at the end of the runway about 10 seconds from touching down.
QF10 departed SIN after 2100 after boarding on time. Captain said it was due to having to arrive over MEL after 6am as the runway at MEL the A380 needed didn't open until 6.

I've made a 30 minute connection (JL-QF) at SIN before without issue (including having to go via the transit counter).

A TOGA is a really good way to immediately wake those dozing passengers who are normally waiting for the thud of landing to stir them.

Only ever had two TOGAs - one into BKK on EK at 0200 when aircraft infront of us was slow with vacating the runway and one into SYD in pea soup cloud. As said, makes everyone sit up and instantly come to their senses.

TOGA's are fun, try it when in the left seat with the instructor in the right seat, C-152, with the instructor doing the TOGA! Gets the adrenalin rushing!

You'll be fine as long as CX735 is not substantially delayed.

When you check in at HKG, tell them you're going to MEL and show them the details for SIN-MEL. They'll tag the bags through but won't be able to give you at QF10 boarding pass.
Once you get to SIN, go to the transit desk to get a boarding pass for QF10. SATS will want to see the baggage claim tag.
