6 A380 deferred to 2018-2021, 4xB744 retired 2011

Looks like QF has pegged its LH fleet size at 22xB744 and 12xA380 as the max for the future; with 6 A380s deferred until 2018-2021 when they will replace the retiring B744ERs. About half the QF fleet strategy from less than 5 years ago, fwiw. Looks like QF wants to be a narrow-body airline, with all the A320 orders.

I read it as
medium term (ie from 2015) fleet will be 9xB744 and 14xA380s (only 9 744s are getting the new treatment)
then from 2018 the remaining 744s go for new A380s.

no mention as to whether 787s form part of QF longhaul.

Qantas will still be flying to Bangkok and HongKong but you will connect to London (or another one of many BA services to European cities) on a BA flight.

Cheers,

Why are Qantas spending such an exorbitant amount on lounges? Surely that 400m can be invested elsewhere ...

Interesting about SCL.
I was on LAN yesterday and the CC said there was talk of LAN stopping its tag flight AKL-SYD, massive tragedy for me.
They also said that the PB cabin on this route is filled with Australian mining company executives.
Who knows but I must say the loads on the LAN flight in the cabin have been noticably low, less than 50%.

Probably a knock-on effect of the Chilean Volcano. AFAIK, LA has been hit badly with delays and cancellations whereas QF have only stopped TT when the BOM ash cloud charts were an issue.

My one (and only - so far) LA flight AKL-SCL last November, the front cabin was full. Therefore I assume its like this all the time .
