My guess about the 1-3-1 row is that there simply wasn't space to put a 2-3-2 row there, because the fuselage and cabin are already narrowing by the time you get this far forward in the aircraft. But QF probably can't have just one row of 2-2-2 there because of the aisles not lining up.

The current proposal already means a loss of 2 seats in Zone B and a loss of 6 seats on the upper deck. If the whole of Zone B was made 2-2-2, there'd be a net loss of a further 2 seats, for little reason. The four middle seats would presumably often be the last four (out of 58) seats to be allocated - in theory (the need to accomodate couples and groups aside), J would have to have a >90% load before any middle seat needed to be used.

I really hope that could get rid of row 43 and 44 and make them the premium Economy seating. They could rebuild 44 ABC or HJK into a small crew rest cabin

I thought the crew rest cabin was in the ceiling space at the rear of the aircraft. Why then close off revenue seats on the main deck for this?

It is, but there is IIRC only space for eight crew up there, for extended breaks (needing bunks) - still a good idea for crew rest for the occasional (20 min) break on the main deck.

Ahhh, of course. Somewhere to sit for a short time is critical.

Actually, it is, I am the last one to support lazy crew, but it is actually good that a space such as this is provided.

Correct - it is

And as thadocta mentioned there are 8 bunks for us

However our EBA also requires us to have seats available so we can not only sit to eat, but not all crew like to use the bunks on their break (even the long breaks).

This is also why the A380 has 4 seats behind the premium economy galley. But unlike on the 747, they are not certified to have anyone in them for take off or landing.

On both aircraft the seats are only installed with audio, so we can listen to the radio channels.

On the A330 we only get seats (but these have AVOD). The crew rest on the A330 can be sold on domestic sectors under certain conditions.

Thanks eoinnz. Out of interest, is there enough headroom to comfortably move around in the bunk rest area?

On the 747 you have to crouch a little bit.

On the A380 you can almost stand. If your tall, you just have to tilt your head

Both get a little crowded though when everyone is woken up!

Here are the 747 bunks (on our ER aircraft there are curtains installed)

Here are the A380 bunks (From SQ but it's the same)

eoinnz - Do you know where the crew rest seats are on the 74N? They are not mentioned anywhere.

Also, you may have forgotten, but OJS, T and U also have curtains for each bunk.

Interesting choice of row numbers. UD Row 16 no longer exit row, LD row 23 no longer exists. That should cause confusion with equipment swaps.

There also seems to be five rows of 2-4-2 down the back instead of the previous three.

How long before QF sell these pairs of seats as "preferred" as do AC? Certainly seem to be the seats of choice.

Only two bathrooms for the entire Business cabin downstairs? On the plus side, PE seems to get a dedicated bathroom....

Still would have rather the 380 being delivered instead of deferred and being stuck with the 744, though.
