Cancelling QF upgrade request

Can someone post with the exact click-by-click instruction for cancelling an upgrade request online?

I had placed an upgrade request a few months earlier when they announced some special upgrade promo for non-upgradeable class. I want to cancel it and the help says that international upgrade requests are to be cancelled online but no matter where I've looked I cannot find this cancel link.

I've checked the upgrade request page but this only says "upgrade requested" and managing my booking says something similar, just different formatting.

Help??

Recently I wanted to cancel an upgrade request. Going to the "upgrade" screen I saw no cancel option - the booking was part of a LONE4, 001- ticket on QF metalFlight number. I was able to call Qantas and cancel by asking.

This was in February.

So it's not always possible to do it online these days.

I cancelled one just this week. Go to your bookings, click 'Upgrade' then cancel the waitlist. Easy!

What d00t says, Qantas rescheduled a night flight to a day flight and I thought stuff that I can use the 40,000 points on a JASA to Auckland 80SCs closer to platinum. Because of the reschedule there wer only about 70 passengers in economy on an A330-300, so there was plenty of space.

This is the screen that I see: http://i.imgur.com/AF4mO.jpg

Where is the cancel link?

I was hoping not to have to call QF as I'm in Germany right now but I may have to do just that.

And the reason for cancelling is that SYD-NRT was not full at all on the way there and by the looks of it, NRT-SYD won't be full as well ... :D

I'm thinking like my example you did not book using Qantas.

FWIW, my cancellation requirement was over a month before the flight.

Perhaps the cancel option isn't available X days before the flight.

In any case a quick call will fix it for you.

Allright, thanks all. I'll go ahead and give them a call -- partly I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going crazy.

And serfty, all booked through QF online.

YMMV - I did have a similar situation last year with no cancel option after re-using a 'voucher' credit; I did not cancel FWIW.

can anyone tell me if QF upgrades fall under the current classic reward flexible free cancel terms? I requested domestic upgrade recently as route was listed as 330, but since have changed equipment to 737. AS such would rather just save the points. Upgrade was instant as there were classic reward fares available, so wondering if i cancel will i get full points refund or will i still be penalized the normal (non flexible) 5k points fee?
Obviously I could call QF to ask this, but i don't have a spare 6 hours.

Nope, no free cancellation after the upgrade is confirmed. If you really want the full amount of points back you'll have to call and plead your case.

How to Cancel an Upgrade Request

I just managed to cancel my (points) upgrade request by doing this:
1. Go to your booking/flight details page
2. Scroll down to find and click on “Treat yourself to a little more luxury”. This will take you to the REQUEST UP UPGRADE page.
3. Look for the relevant flight, and over to the right, you should see your request and a Cancel Request button.

It worked for me. Good luck… as getting through on the phone is not easy!
