If not flying Qantas, then check in is with the operating carrier. e.g. Fly BA and it is BA where check in is performed ( and as a OW Emerald will be able to use business line ) and , iirc, the check in signs above the desks show both BA and QF numbers or fly JQ and JQ will handle check in QF check in desks are for checking in for QF flights There are competing definitions of what "QF flight" might mean. You take the hard line, that if it's not on QF metal, it's not a QF flight. But at the QP, you will hear "Qantas is pleased to announce the departure of its flight QF375 to Port Vila, codeshare with Air Vanuatu, now boarding at gate ...". So there are times when Qantas at least regards the codeshare as one of their flights. |

However - as posted I would check-in to be done by the operating airline. For foreign departures the story is different. When leaving India on a QF flight number operated by Jet Airways I didn't expect, or receive any extras (no priority check-in, lounges or additional baggage allowance). |

Sorry Dave, I don't want to be seen as harping on too much here, but what do you think of the information in the link I gave a few posts up, which seems to imply that Priority Checkin is still included as an SG benefit when you have a QF ticket on a codeshare?

As far as other things such as priority boarding , the link does state that they are for QF operated flights only which your flight was not |
Unfortunately, QF creates the illusion that anything with a QF code is a QF flight ( IIRC ie QF 200 to 399 ) with all the trimmings and perks. Those who are FT gurus know better. Again, unfortunately, those who do not know every permutation of the nature of code shares get stung from time to time. QF are not good at pointing out that code shares are not equal to QF metal flights.

Just hope you never fly on an QF code flight operated by AS. Here you can expect nothing more than a stern punch in the face regardless of status on QF.

Sounds like Quality Sydney airport Qantas ground staff check-in experience.
Some of the staff on premium desk should only be allow Jetstar Flights! On Monday these are the only words that the QF Staff member maning the premium check-in for NZ said to me! Me "Hi" Check-in "Flight" Me "NZ108" Check-in "How Many Bags" Me "2" Check-in "Gate 58 Seat 10A" Atleast you got an express pass, I didn't even get one this time around. Lucky that customs was quiet. |

Love it - the less interaction the better usually suits me - I can do my grocery checkout without a word ever being said.
I can't wait for SYD to get 1) Smart Gates for departures 2) self checkin for International |
