True that. Gone are the cheaper super savers on that run. However I'd agree BNE-PER is worth it as it is a long domestic flight, however I only did it in a B738. It's still though $1000-1500 cheaper each way then buying J.

$493 for Y with a chance of J? For about $500 you can buy sufficient AA miles for a confirmed one-way J award seat BNE-PER, plus fees/taxes of $75.
Edit- back on topic, if using AA miles for a SYD-PER J seat you now need to be extra careful not to waste your $575 on a ridiculous Y-style middle seat in the new domestic "business" cabin of VH-EBO.

Oh no - there's two of them now
Here's QF's response to my complaint about Y seats in the J cabin:
Dear Mr harryhv
Thank you for your email....
Currently there are 2 Airbus A330-200 series aircraft fitted with a 2-3-2 format in the business class cabin. Configuration of aircraft cabins can vary, even within a particular aircraft type and any aircraft is subject to change. Not all domestic aircraft will be configured in the same format.

Outch! That looks like a real PE seat. I used to pay more for a good seat. That looks like an Economy-Seat for me. So no more Travel in Business-Class on domestic flights.
Thank you QF, you are saving me a lot of money!
What are you doing to tell me to try others?
- Removing Any Time Lounge Access
- Removing Priority-Checkin for Mrs. Tyrolean
- Enhancing the PG level!
- Enhancing J to a PE
- Silly Piece-Rule with checked luggage!
Virgin, could you please Join *A ASAP!

Comment in this article in the Australian indicates re-config domestic A330s back to 2-2-2. ^ Anyone have independent confirmation of this?
Thanks for listening, QF Flyertalk lurkers!

Qantas must be worried enough about Virgin introducing international standard business class cabins on the transcontinental routes for them to backtrack on the downgrading of the business cabin on domestic A330s.
