Chinese Eastern & QFF cooperation

Last week a friend received the following txt message from Chinese Eastern:

自5月6日起,东航和澳大利亚航空公司开展常旅客积分奖励计划合作。详情查
看“东方万里行”网站或拨打客服热线95530。【东方航空】

Google translates it as:

Since May 6, the Eastern and Australian airline frequent flyer points award scheme to carry out cooperation. Details of the investigation. See "Eastern Miles" website or call customer service hotline 95530. Eastern Airlines

My friend says that this refers to Qantas. I’ve tried searching but haven’t been able to find anything & I don’t speak any Chinese to call. Does anyone have any knowledge of what this cooperation might be? Perhaps one can now get QFF points and status credits on Chinese Eastern flights?

According to the Earning Table, you earn points but not Status Credits

Of course - cos they are an airline partner but not a member of Oneworld (or a part of the QF family).

In fact its interesting that this arrangement is happening at all considering that only recently MU agreed to join SkyTeam - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...n-skyteam.html

And why do QF keep adding partners two or three months after I use them?!? About the third time this has happened! I'm starting to wonder if its personal ;) (Paranoid? Me?!?)

It is beyond me why QF have so many non-oneworld partners while AA is reducing the number within AAdvantage programme.

It is also beyond me why MU choose to join SkyTeam while they have FFP cooperation with CX,JL,QF and codeshare with AA,BA,JL,QF while their SkyTeam partner at this moment only limited to DL and codeshare one route with AF...:(

But I happen have some MU flight coming up. I will be happy to put some points into QF. And looks like CA would go to my CX account and MU go to QF account. Surprise that the X class you can earn QF point as well. There are about 9 sub class you can earn points on QF but not CX when you fly MU. So QF is much better choice for me now.

When you fly MU, as one CX member you can earn:
1.5XMiles: FP
1.25XMiles: CJO
1XMiles:YK
0.50XMiles: BEHLM

As QF member you can get:
1.5XMiles: FP
1.25XMiles: CJO
1X Miles: YKBEH
0.50XMiles: LMNRSV
0.25XMiles: GQTWX

A leaf out of the AS book where you can be a partner with many and varied alliance members but not actually get into bed with them. Seems to work very well for them.
