AA - AUS-BNA - $354 r/t - Domestic First - 240 TP's

For those of you in Texas that are crediting flights to British Airways, if flying AUS-BOI isn't your cup of tea, here's another option to collect tier points - American Airlines - Austin, Texas (AUS) to Nashville, Tennessee (BNA) via DFW and CLT in each direction - $354+ roundtrip in domestic first (recliner the whole way).

Availability is best in August / September 2024, but there are other scattered dates that work. You can complete the roundtrip in a single day - no overnight stay required!

Nice fare. Works originating in BNA as well. Seems like Tue/Wed/Sat/Sun only.
Also seems to work as a one-way fare as well.

Yes, it's technically two one-way fares put together so it should work in either direction and it's for Tues/Wed/Sat departures.. It books into I (which is what AA will show), but it's technically a Q economy fare which upgrades to business.

If you're going to use ITA Matrix to search for working dates, use fare code Q

If you want to maximize Avios earning on your journey, connecting in Miami instead of Charlotte adds 491 miles in each direction (982 miles on the roundtrip), but the caveat being you can't complete the roundtrip in one day, so there the additional cost of a night in Nashville.

Avios is now revenue based for AA tickets when crediting to BAEC, so there is no longer an advantage to have a longer distance.

Thanks! I didn't realize that. I have been crediting to AA lately. I knew AA loyalty points were based on ticket cost when flying BA, but didn't know it worked the other way around since the Avios calculator still displays an Avios amount.

Well, if you're going to credit this to Alaska, then I guess pick the longer routing, otherwise it doesn't matter.

Charlotte is where connections go to die! Unfortunately that's the only option if you want to complete the entire roundtrip in a day. I suppose you could book and if you miss the connection, there are two other flights you could ask to be moved to that would preserve the rest of your trip.

CLT-BNA
AA2945 - 1:00PM-1:31PM
AA864 - 2:30PM-2:50PM

You need to depart BNA at 4PM, so both of those flights would work. Unfortunately inserting either of those into a trip at booking drastically increases the price.

Isn't a 30 minute connection something that makes a mileage run more fun? The possibility on ending up in a different city than expected is part of the allure in my mind. And if you pull off as prescribed: Bonus points!

Are there any other dates available for this prices (same return or next day return). Google flights still shows the same price but I am not able to book this in AA. Its reset before getting to the payment.

BTW what is the best way to search for multi city like in Calendar view or it can be only by specific date ? I am not able to get the same price in Matrix

ITA Matrix won't show I and R fares on many routes now that most of those are NDC fares. American wants to drive business away by looking like they are the most expensive option!

The only real way to find these is to start searching dates on Google Flights or AA's website. This one is basically the same price in each direction so you can search for a cheap one-way in each direction and put those together to get a roundtrip.

Beware that even Google Flights doesn't always display the correct price. Sometimes it displays a higher price than the ticket should cost and you don't see the real price until you get to the final page.

American has really messed things up with NDC!

Fare is still available with slightly increased price. However when I tried to book it with AA, it was only available through miles. If I don't select "redeem miles" it won't let me go to the actual flight selection page.

What? That's odd behavior. Maybe try clearing your browser cache? Results still display when I search.
