Yesterday when I posted this you could return on the same flight you arrived on, but I just checked now and it looks like that now results in a $6.6k fare. Ouch! The 1 week stay is still alive though! In particular, these dates out of EWR result in the same price - $1283 - Oct 12 - Oct 21.

You might not be able to return from CUN same-day anymore, but if you have another way to get to CUN you can now fly a one-way itinerary to one of the airports I listed in my first post for about half the roundtrip fare. It only works CUN-LAX-CLT/DCA/MIA/PHL-<Origin City>, not the other way around, originating in the US.

For example on Oct 21 you can fly CUN-LAX-MIA-EWR for $597 (less than half the original fare of $1283) and earn 320 tier points ($1.87 per tier point). You'd also have a lie flat on the 777 between LAX and MIA.

If you fly CUN-LAX-CLT-ABE though, you'll pay a little more than half the original fare.

Has anyone actually booked one of these? Attempting to click through from Google Flights initially brings up a priced fare, but then redirects to a filled-out multicity search before the final page. Attempting to run the search goes nothing with no error message or explanation.

I haven't tried recently, but back when I posted this I could book a ticket. I'll guess I'll give it a try again.

Yes, I can still book a ticket.
