If interested, I found the SQ fare in mid April with a Saturday night departure from JFK (2230) and a return to JFK by 1830 on Tuesday, all in PE.

Agreed, unless OP is referring to Singapore’s government’s archaic caning policy, your seat will most certainly be rather comfortable, at least in comparison with the vast majority of PE products out there.

Not at all, perfectly comfortable for a flight in PE. I’ve taken it a few times on the same route, and while I of course prefer to fly in business, it’s much, much more comfortable than most other options out there. And it’s nonstop, which is hard to beat when you have to go halfway around the world.
