This is a great fare and has a lot of routing flexibility (I've booked a few with 14 segments). It is discussed in depth in https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prem...-business.html.

After the new year, see availability for 2-weeks to CGK with stopover at JED on Saudia for $2756. LAX-JED-CGK-JED-LAX sample 1/7 and 1/12.

Saudia vs. ANA doesn't seem like a fair fight!

careful as NRT-CGK is not lie-flat on ANA later in the schedule.

Not really except I can't find anything from west coast that even close to NYC price on ANA for that price.

Yes, that's correct. It's still better than the ride in premium economy or standard economy.

Some fares route through SFO or LAX so, though you may still need to start from New York, you could end your trip on the west coast.

There are multiple examples in the other thread. One 13 segment one is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34474572-post107.html.
Since then people have booked other creative routings (primarily to get area 3 stopovers in places they actually want to visit).
I'm trying to avoid splitting the discussion over two threads though.

One quirk im noticing. I can do a 27h layover in sin with cgk-sin on SQ, but if so my transpac flight has to be on ANA metal but UA ticket stock. Alternatively CGK-SIN can be on Garuda on ANA stock but can't get it to ticket at an OTA.

Trying to either maximize PQD or Lifetime.

This can be on NH ticket stock and TPAC marketing/metal does not matter. As long as you can get a single NH marketed flight anywhere, including SIN-TYO.
Fare rules allow this (see category 15).

Thanks for the info on this and related fares from NYC area to CGK.

I had specific dates I had to be in Indonesia so may not have the best deal but still worked out well in my opinion anyway ($2670 USD all fees/taxes included). I also opted for better connection times (less stress) and airports I am familiar with or which seem to have fewer issues (now and in the past).

Chose EWR -(UA) SEA -(NH) NRT -(NH) CGK outbound and CGK -(NH) NRT -(UA) LAX -(UA) EWR inbound. I added Canada to EWR using flight pass credits I need to use before year end and I have a short hop to Bali DPS from CGK for $200 which works well into my schedule.

I could have had fewer connections but actually longer travel time with long layovers on a different fare with Philippines Airlines and it would have been $3700 USD all in from Canada to Bali. I have flight pass credits on Air Canada I need to use up so this all worked out well and I get to stay mostly on more familiar terrain with Star Alliance partners.

Just wondering if I can make multiple date changes free of charge (without paying fare difference) after flying 1st sector?

Yes - most of these fares are on 0 change fee. obviously if you upfare eg from P to Z that would carry a fare difference, but there is no fee for change.
