Books into "I" class. Use the multicity function on Amex Travel to force a stop over in Tokyo.

I keep trying different dates using the multicity tool all on JAL but get a price of 3800.

Sounds like you're getting D or C fares on at least one segment.

I wonder if this fare is gone now. Searching JFK-LAX-TYO-SYD-CGK roundtrip on itamatrix and having unchecked "only show flights and prices with available seats" results only into AA RNE98MN2 fare costing around 6000 $ instead of AA RLE08MN2 costing around 3000 $ which I found less than a week ago.

Looks like it is gone. Now pricing $5k without the sydney leg. Anyone find anything different.

Last week I booked a QR ticket LAX-CGK. Then added a stripped down version AA ticket on JAL, CGK-TYO(15 day stopover)-LAX for $1550. Weird way to get Qpoints, RTW, and to DPS for a long holiday. Thank-you very much nufnuf77.

Newbie here, what does QR ticket stand for? Id like to get to tokyo in business so wouldn't mind heading to CGK for a few days if I could get in on this deal.

QR= Qatar Airline. The 1st ticket is from LAX-Doha-CGK on Qatar. The 2nd code share ticket(AA) on JAL from CGK-TYO-LAX cost $1550. What's sweet about this is it beats the hell price wise out of a Oneworld RTW ticket. I looked at adding some extra side trips, but in the end, there just wasn't enough time to take advantage of this in the way I normally travel.

Any chance anyone has been able to get any routing to come in around $3K since early December? I'm very flexible with travel dates and need the Sydney stop over, but having no luck (bit of a newbie I guess).

I snatched one of those booked back in September for travel in Oct 2023, but I think the fare is now gone as all the dates I tracked on GoogleFlights are more than doubled in price.

Weird thing is that my AA codeshare(for booking on their website) in business on JAL from CGK to LAX is still available at right around $1550. Didn't check beyond that.
