Completely agree with this. I work for a very large expat employer in Jakarta, and many of my colleagues have been burned trying to get home on JL due to HND and NRT transits.
What is a good source you use to check current policy? I haven't found one I've liked (frequent updates).

Burned as in trying to do HND/NRT transits versus NRT/NRT or HND/HND transits? I could be clueless, but I thought transits within the same airport had been allowed for most of the pandemic period. However, NRT/HND transits have pretty much been off limits the whole time I thought.

I was able to put the JFK-LAX-BOS-NRT-BKK r/t on hold at AA.com with J codes for the 4 domestic legs. The layovers at BOS aren't ideal though.
For AS that would be 49114 EQM and 85804 RDM miles as a 75k.

If the RT fare has gone up when you're trying to change the return date, you'll end up needing to pay the higher fare to make the change.

Read the changes after departure rules, If I understand this correctly, that means if I book an outbound for may and return for december for now, I can fly the outbound as is and then change the outbound dates based on prices from today? That sounds like it would work out great for me.
