TK: ORD - JNB in Business $2016 (per person 2 passengers required for fare)
I had to look to find dates with what I considere as "manageable" connections. You can find this fare very easily using Matrix-ITA, but it often includes extremely long (over 18 hour) connections outbound to JNB and/or very short (less than 1:30) on return to the US. Personally I would be leery of that short a connection at an airport the size of the new IST when you have US secondary security to pass. I haven't connected back to the US on TK via the new IST yet, but it could be a real bottleneck at the old airport.
I found the fare below and was able to reproduce it manually by doing a dummy booking on the TK website for the same dates. I was able to take it all the way to the payment page. It books into fare class J (Business Promotional). This earns at least 20234 award miles on all *A partners, according to WTC (link). As per flyerCO in post #3, this requires booking 2 people. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6680907004.jpg |
I cannot seem to reproduce this on matrix. Best I get for exact same flights and J you posted is ~$3100….. :/

CPT works as well.
BKK for about $1900 per passenger. 2 passengers required. Actually shows up on GF, just not right away. You have to click through to the total and it will change to proper amount. Layovers in IST allowed. I apologize for a phone screenshot. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...348deef4ec.png |
For those interested, here are the fare rules (via ITA)

MLE works as well.

Great fare. And I appreciate the posting of it so I could play around to see if I could do something with it. Thanks!
Shame and deal-breaker that it is ex-ORD (SFO/LAX seems not to work) and flies dreadful A330 on second leg. I've done SFO-CPT on TK this year and the A330 sucks, actually two different version of suck depending if the plane is the old or the very old version A330. 787 on first leg makes TK bearable in spite of the always ice-cold and sometimes incompetent cabin crew. I fly QR 80% of my international flights so I'm jaded, however have done 20 TK legs in past two years. Oh yeah you might need to do a charge-back to get your money back if things go pear shaped and they cancel a leg, or two. Ask me how I know. TK is the TAP of Asia (if you subscribe that Turkey is in Asia ;)) |

I personally prefer the QSuites product and the QR non-QSuites product to any of the TK hard products (I haven't personally flown either the TK 789 or 359). But the A330 seat map shown is the lie-flat A333. IMO it is much like the TK 77W (which is what you will get currently on TK6/TK5). Unfortunately for the time period where this fare is available, QR's fares are about double this specific TK fare if not higher.
Absolutely correct, QR is currently not offering any fare value. Until they pop up with something tasty, the TK flight pricing are attractive. To reiterate, not intending to crap on your post at all, but some folks may not fully understand the value proposition. As always, good homework = a good trip :D |

People say the TK A330 (and 777) J 2-2-2 are roomy for the feet. It's true. At the sacrifice of zero privacy and stepping over someone if you have a window seat, and in the case of the older A330 (they fly both planes on same routes) there are no electrical plugs. Cabin must be 30 years old? The only good news, for that fare, is you can rack up UA miles.

As always, good homework = a good trip :D Since I am typically flying with my wife, the 2-2-2 or 2-3-2 of TK (or ET, or MS, etc) is not an issue as long as we get one of the seat pairs. I am a tall flyer with 13EE feet. So a seat whose dimension in bed mode is shorter than 75 inches (or 78 inches if it has a restrictive footwell) is a dealbreaker for me. I started my business class flying long before flat bed seats were anything but a pipe dream. So I can easily sleep on almost any business class seat as long as it is big enough. |
Looks like some schweet deals. I few the 2-3-2 to BKK a couple of years ago. Being in that middle seat would suck. But otherwise it's a good hard and really good soft product. And if I had to nominate a *A to spend 6-8 hours, IST would definitely be it. But it is a massive airport and would benefit from more people movers.

Appears that the fares expired on 10/22. Other cities included TPE,TYO,HKG,,NBO
