Hi Mosey1 and welcome to FlyerTalk!

If you are trying to book through BA, when calling BA ask the price to be quoted in Euros.
If you are trying to book through AA, use the France site of AA.com

Is there a way to pay in GBP to avoid the FX fee?

When booking with BA on the phone ask to be charged in GBP
If you are planning to book through AA, use ITA Matrix -> Powertools to AA's UK website so that you could pay in GBP.

I get this error on the AA UK powertools link:

Something went wrong

Just received an eTicket, after my booking to OGG (via AA.com) was showing "on request" for three hours. Wasn't expecting this to happen, but even better.

Something is still weird about the other ticket, though.
- after booking, it immediately got "ticketed"
- Amex was immediately charged (luckily I kept the booking ref)
- never received a booking confirmation
- No segments are showing up and I am told to contact Reservations:

Can't even cancel it online.

This only works if you START in Europe, correct? LAX based, but would love to hop on this deal!

As a reminder, BA offers more flexibility so if you are based in the UK, I would highly suggest you to book through BA on the phone.

To avoid the issue on the AA UK Powertools link, be sure that you have marked "London, UK" as your sales city when making the search on ITA Matrix. The system might not allow a French fare to be booked on the UK website.

It's normal.
It takes time for AA to process and issue international tickets.

I've had that response before. I think they might need some more info for the ticketing part. Saying that, the fare is now £15K!
