Am: Tij - jfk j $629

Live in SoCal and need to get to New York? A good hack is to take a trip down the 805 until you hit the CBX and essentially allow you to get around cabotage laws and earn DL MQDs/MQM using partner charts.

Travel is via MEX. MEX - JFK segments on 787's are 2-2-2 lieflats. TIJ - MEX - JFK clocks in at a hair over 7000 miles, meaning 10,500 DL MQM and 2,800 MQD.

https://www.google.com/flights?hl=en...1*2.USD.249121

For comparison's sake, SAN - JFK usually runs for 400-500 USD on your standard recliner seat on AA/DL, and for a heavy premium on B6 mint

How's the long term parking situation at TIJ?

$15 a day and pretty secure.

You can probably park somewhere in Chula Vista or San Ysidro and take a cheap uber if it’s more cost effective. Chula Vista is especially safe to park things overnight somewhere

No AM 787 to JFK in Nov

This is an interesting option and I am in SoCal and have used the CBX before - quite efficient actually.

However - when I did random samples of several days in NOV it doesn't look like AM is flying MEX-JFK at all.....much less with a 787. All SkyTeam non-stops seem to be Delta only and on a 757 without lie-flats. Here is a link @ the $629 price point.

https://www.google.com/flights?hl=en...;sc:b;sd:1;t:f

Alot less appealing without the 787 - not to mention AA is flying the 777 between LAX and JFK in NOV (I'm booked in mid-NOV) in J.. Perhaps AM will resume Dreamliner service in DEC or later ??

another one from TIJ-MCO would earn 8130 MQMs 2168 MQDs 3.79 MQD Ratio
Delta Diamond members would obtain 23848 RDMs, Platinum 19512 RDMs, Gold 17344 RDMs, Silver 15176 RDMs, Base 10840 RDMs

Tij - hnl $735

Now this one is probably not the most comfortable ride, but booking with AM numbers you get a massive amount of MQM and probably more importantly MQD on DL flying TIJ - MEX - LAX - HNL - LAX - MTY - MEX - TIJ.

16,882 MQM, $4502 MQD for just $735 is not bad

There was never actually a ban on traveling to and from Mexico via air and the US. Hawaii just states they need a negative Covid test to avoid quarantine no mention of foreign nationals that appears to be handled by the feds

That would definitely be the scenic route from SoCal to HNL hehe

Foreign nationals that can legally enter the USA can travel to Hawaii. In order to bypass the self-quarentine order in the State, a negative COVID-19 test taken at most 72 hours before the final flight to HI at an approved US clinic as specified by the HI Government is required. Negative tests not on the specified list are not accepted.

One would think that whatever the state mandates, they should also provide. Perhaps that's too much to expect from HI.

it’s a shame the country didn’t control the pandemic as much as HI did
