LH Group: KBP - SIN/BKK/HKG in J ~ 999 EUR

The price is around 1000EUR if booking via OTA, or a bit more directly with the airline. OJ in Asia also works.

Wide-open from May until Feb 2021 and according to Expedia, it books in P.

Found using the super handy GF open destination option.

FYI to the everyone apparently very difficult to get refunds and rebookings if using an OTA with LH group at the moment. You’ve been warned!!

Was posted by a blog earlier today, and it works for more destinations, but what is interesting is that this is also valid for summer holidays July and August!

For anyone who is willing to take the risk and book, the best is to use the LH offers display at https://www.lufthansa.com/ua/en/flights - select Business as Travel Class on the top and then you can filter your results on the left.

The interesting offers are to BKK, SIN, ICN and HKG in Asia (ca. $1100) + BOG, EZE, GIG and GRU in South America (ca. $1350).

Please note that LH will book this in P class and therefore limited mileage possibilities (further info at https://www.wheretocredit.com/lufthansa/p) - I suggest looking at booking with either OS or LX (use same site for mileage credit options).

The fare is PNCPUA and is available through Matrix. In summary: min 6 days or Sat night, max 3 months, no stopovers, open jaws allowed, sale runs until 12 April for travel between 1 May and 28 February, non-refundable, changes at $310 + fare class difference, limited number of seats, no skip lagging.

We already saw this way before the Coronavirus Pandemic, at the same price. So really too expensive considering the travel situation today and the risk of bankruptcy even for major airlines.

Pretty decent deal (if you can get LX/OS, not LH metal), however I would caution against booking with Lufthansa Group unless you are absolutely sure that you won't need to change your travel dates.

If you ever need to change your travel dates before using your first flight segment, fare difference for "different fare" at time of rebooking will apply, even under the new rebooking policy with the 50eur discount. This essentially means even a K class --> K class rebooking could still result in fare difference collection, if the K fare at time of rebooking is higher than your historical K fare.

LH Group seems to have already deliberately blocked many lower fare buckets (e.g., K/L/T and in some cases P) months into the future just so they can comfortably penalize customers who are desperate to rebook now when virtually no one is willing/able to travel. I can imagine availability will only get more limited when flight operations are back to normal. Just all in all bad taste to try capitalizing on a public health crisis. Yes, LH needs cash right now, but who doesn't? LH has already applied for state aid in several countries and I just cannot comprehend its greed in penalizing its customers...

Also very reasonable PE fares ex KBP - available for high season in July and August (very cheap, if only we knew if traveling by that time will be possible). Advantage is LH N/Y class (rather than P class) which will be eligible with most Star Alliance FFP.

BOG is around 610 EUR return in PE (but with 5-6 hour transfers at FRA). Tempted, but the early departure ex KBP (06.50AM) and the long transit times at FRA kills it for me.

On a different note, KBP has been one of my favorite cities to visit in the last two years. Flights from Denmark are dirt cheap and short, and Kiev has many excellent restaurants, cocktail bars and sights. The prices are unbelievably cheap so close to Europe, almost like Asia.

I think business class for the price of economy in the summer holidays is a great deal, even if it is a bit out of the way.

But the hotel prices are quite steep right? (that is at least how I recall it from checking rates some time ago).

this is what I remember when LH offered some good F companion fares a while ago

My experience with re booking is terrible.
major extra payment even in the same class "P".
just book if you are 100% .

Just wondered why you might prefer OS and LX to LH.

montezume Mar 22, 2020 11:36 am

It's too risky, if your flights get cancelled, you will just end up with 1000EUR in monopoly money.

Because in comparison LH has the worst Business Class.

OS:
famous for the service, their flying chefs and catering by Do&Co.

LX: excellent overall experience

LH - depsite also having a decent C product - just can't keep up with e.g. their outdated 2-2 seating configuration. just keep in mind - technically they are a 5* Airline *cough*
