JFK-BKK-JFK for $1932 in CA Business Class (good for 4448 UA PQPs)

example

The fare was available many days in January and March when I checked. On some days it's $2,124. From the Google link it looks like it might have to be booked through Expedia or another OTA.

The same fare is offered on China Southern (CZ), but of course that wouldn't work for MileagePlus PQPs. I'm not familiar with SkyTeam, but might it be good for a mileage run on CZ? According to Expedia, the trip is 17,720 miles round-trip.

Per ITA Matrix, the fare basis is RNCUE6. According the ExpertFlyer that fare expires 12-Dec-2019, but if the fare rules remain the same as the one expiring on 12/12:

Minimum stay: 3 days
Maximum stay: 90 days
Reservations/ticketing: at least 28 days before departure
Change fee: $400
Ticket is non-refundable

The fare is gone from ExpertFlyer now. I didn't do the math, but probably today is within 28 days of departure for ticketing a 12Dec (last date permitted according to EF) departure.

The critical part of the rule missing from EF:

Code:
VALID FOR TRAVEL COMMENCING DEPARTURE OF OUTBOUND TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR:

-- ON/BEFORE 12DEC 19. OR -

-- ON/AFTER 30DEC 19 AND ON/BEFORE 16JAN 20. OR -

-- ON/AFTER 10FEB 20 AND ON/BEFORE 30APR 20
But, still all tickets must be issued by 29-Nov-2019.

Good catch! example for US$1929

It gets 4902 PQP for MileagePlus and can be booked directly on CA web site in R.

Since UA will check your bags through to another *A itinerary, this can be handy when booking positioning flights. I book these kinds of fares for vacation opportunities so I am going for at least 10 days or so (and check bags). I like EWR as opposed to JFK so I can just get off my positioning flight and hit the lounge instead of getting my luggage, switching terminals, waiting for check-in to open, etc.

I am just amazed that the fare is cheaper out of the US as opposed to Canada. The fare deals out of Canada have been better than US cities for some time,

Newbie question- PQP calculation for the above trip

Can you explain how jfk-pek-bom-pek-jfk (19,600 miles) translates to 4,900 PQP?
I thought it's 1:5 ratio. Thx.

The fare is booked into R class which earns 125% award miles: 19,600 x 1.25 / 5 = 4,900
