JL/AA biz LAX-PEK $1,677

Very limited dates...fare rules I've reviewed state departure must be 23JAN-27JAN.

JL X-class or AA I-class.

JL is best for EQDs, but I have confirmed that similar fare is available as a consolidator/"special fare" on AA metal as well.

Chinese New Year 2020 will be why. Quite a lot of flexibility, meaning you needn't do a long stay:

There's a direct outbound Friday, landing Saturday, and you can return Sunday via HKG arriving back home on the Sunday (https://www.google.com/flights#flt=L...7*2.GBP.142074). For LAers that's only a day out the office (it's about $150 more, at $1840).

If you have an Amex Plat you can get it down to about $1500 with the International Airline Program discount.

Have to be on the east coast the weekend of January 25/26 but otherwise I would totally do this.

AA nonstop going there, and JL on the way back via NRT. A lot of miles crediting to AS.

Good luck to all who can use this fare!

LAX-NRT-PEK should give:
Alaska Airlines credits at 225% RDM and 125% EQM: 30516 RDM and 16954 EQMs

American Airlines credits at 70% EQMs 150% RDMs 14% EQDs or 9492 RDMs 20340 EQMs 1899 EQDs

The routing I would have booked:

LAX-PEK on AA
PEK-NRT-LAX on JL

(no codeshares)

JL: 225% RDM & 125% EQM when credited to AS
AA: 150% RDM & EQM when credited to AS

My husband and I need to get from HKG back to the states on January 25 (can do evening of the 24, or on the 26th as well). I see the flight from PEK has a layover in HKG. Is there anyway to book that flight, but just catch it on the layover? I'm thinking not.... If not, any advice on how to do it?

Unfortunately, you're right.
If you held a PEK-HKG-LAX ticket and were a "no show" for the first segment, the ticket would be cancelled.
And the original post was for a round-trip originating in the U.S., anyway, not for a one-way back from PEK.

But booking through IAP I won't be able to credit to AS, right? Looks like it only allows either BA or AA frequent flyer numbers.

No reason you wouldn't be able to change your FF pgm number prior to flying, even day of departure.

Thanks, and...Done :-)

Thanks to all thread contributors! ^

This is a nutty little deal that I twisted into making sense to do for us, and did it (5-day trip)

Cold in Beijing then, and smack in middle of Chinese New Year (as mentioned). So pros, or cons, depending on how you look at it.

AmEx biz plat IAP booking for the additional 35% points rebate, so if my math is right, gross 330,000 points, net ~214,500 points (~$2145) for two people in AA Flagship, direct LAX->PEK, and JL business both legs PEK-NRT-LAX on return so as to qualify for the 144 hour transit-free CH visa (can't return direct to US and get it).

So many premium fare deals posted, rarely can I take advantage of one. As I tell my wife, accept the destinations as they come to you, don't try to force the destination at "list price" ^

Now to figure out which Hyatt to pick! (Eclat/Park/Regency)

Thanks for posting the fare rules. I didn't find a sale end date on there. Is there a stated one? Just trying to figure out how long I have to hop on the bandwagon (beyond the "this can be pulled at any second" factor). Thanks!
