HU: JFK to PVG from $1631 (Business)
Found another Hainan Airlines nice sale from New York JFK to Shanghai PVG. Flights start at $1631, but the connections is quite long.
Great sale for people traveling to Shanghai for work.

This may qualify for a complimentary hotel on the way there. The flight lands at 6am and I'm not sure how "between midnight and 6:00am" will be interpreted... YMMV

Thank you for sharing this information. I just called Hainan airlines, and they have noted on my reservation. Once I get to the airport check-in counter, they will issue me an accommodation as well. Because the link you provided mentioned the transit hotel service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so I thought it is better to call them and let them know first.

There is a fare deal to PEK for ~1800 in J from JFK as well, but I couldn't get it to book (fails at payment step).

Okay, got it to book in J for ~$1800:

JFK-CKG-PEK (all lie flat seats)
PEK-CKG-JFK (all lie flat seats)

(CKG = Chongqing)
