FI: North America to Europe from 1050$ rt biz

With Icelandair via KEF.
It is for sure not the best business class product, but far better as economy, and the price is cheap.
Furthermore you will get lounge access, and you can earn Miles with Alsaka, right?

another great find - particularly as originates from NA.
NA is a typically very expensive departure point.
good for AS miles (obviously).

Icelandic biz seats are like domestic F seats / international premium economy right? These prices are similar to premium economy on other carriers.

Yeah, it's a 2-2 recliner product. In fact they rebranded their product from "Saga Business" to "Saga Premium" to properly set expectations.

Also, are US originating Y+ fares in this ballpark too?

styleflyer Oct 11, 2019 12:18 pm

You earn more miles as premium economy and you have lounge access.

Also, if I'm correct the are only 2-2 and 2-1-2 rows. No 2-3-2 or 2-4-2. I'd call that a slight but noticeable improvement since you and a spouse would never be seated with another person.

But you can see "Premium Fights" on just about any Ryanair flight.

Not as good as the 800USD RT a few months back

FI Seats

FI fleet is predominantly 757-200/300 and 737 Max i.e. narrow body. More than that, I find the 757 rather noisy. Even in Saga, it would be a step down from the true PE in the mainline carriers.

ninjagecko Oct 11, 2019 6:00 pm

I felt I had more legroom in other carriers' economy than in IcelandAir business where we got forcefully reassigned seats. The fish tasted quite off and I couldn't eat it.

That 800usd was to KEF only

Boraxo Oct 13, 2019 11:41 pm

Do these extend into next summer?

I really want to visit Iceland but it sounds like I have to do a stopover in KEF to get the best fares. The RT requirement is also disappointing as I was hoping to stop on the way over seeing as the FI business class seats are not lie-flat and thus not conductive to good sleep. Oh well, you know what they say about beggers.

What fare class do these book into? C, D, J class earn 250% RDM and 150% EQM in Alaska Mileage Plan.

It books into A class which makes sense given the pricing.

mlbcard Oct 14, 2019 6:52 pm

It's kind of annoying that these show up as business class fares on google flights. They aren't even close. I get excited when I see the prices, then realize it's FI and not really business class.

roberto.triviani Oct 14, 2019 9:09 pm

Iceland Air is a poor flying experience and poor transit experience in KEF. Even at these prices, I am not tempted and don't want to give them any of my business.

I guess this is basically 800USD fare plus UKAPD hahaha

roberto.triviani Oct 30, 2019 10:32 pm

While I really dislike FI, what is appealing to me is using it as a one way.

Would the following work?
- Buy a Saga Premium Flex round trip flight
- Fly the outbound
- Cancel remaining ticket
- Receive residual value back as refund (i.e. half of ticket)

Is there anything wrong with this logic or anything I am missing?
