EK: BKK-HKG return in Biz, $449 USD, wide open dates

Seen this fare pop up now and again, pretty wide open dates mid-week. I've had bar tabs much bigger than this for a 6hr drinking session (plus lounge time!) so can easily drink your way through the fare at the on-board bar. Happy travels.

Works in reverse as well. Seems to also be an F fare filed HKG-BKK at around $1180 base but couldn't find a way to book.

Interesting how three different carriers operate 5th Freedom flights on this route.

EK has downgraded this route to the 2-class A380 unfortunately. But to be honest, I've flown this route in F, and its just too short to make use of the showers and the incremental service vs J.

And, I've flown it in coach for like $150 RT and it was just fine. Got to love those business class fares that are cheaper RT than they are one way.

Less about the leg's profitability, but more about its convenience.
Its better to fly the plane to somewhere near enough for it to come back to BKK in time for its return flight to base, rather than let it bake in the BKK sun.

That's a fantastic fare.

I have a $510 OW on this route next month.

I've flown this route one-way in F for 39k miles + $18 in taxes a few years ago. Had a shower and a full meal

I second this, champagne + showers on a fifth freedom flight was a pretty epic experience.

I have flown this route in F, J, and Y. I was able to fit in a shower and meal in F but it was rushed. I think J is perfectly fine as long as it's on A380 instead of 777.

You're right. The schedule for HKG-BKK is terrible though - I think it arrives at BKK around midnight.

Depends. It's perfect if, for example, you're arriving on one of the UA flights from the US.

Once a day frequency will never be the right timing for everyone.

I suspect that an added benefit is avoiding some airport parking charges for the aircraft.
