AA/UA/DL US-LHR business class $2700

Anyone else noticed unusually cheap business class fares from US to London Heathrow around Dec 27th 2019? Google flight is showing $2.7k for a roundtrip in business class in AA/UA/DL around that time for a 3-day trip. Is there some sort of promotion going on?

so pick a date listed from outbound on top example 1/3/2020 and a date from bottom half 4/12/2020 and use those on AA website that is what I used to get the $2700 fare

It is the traditional stub period in the Holiday Season where business travel tends to be very slow, and European BC fares get heavily discounted.

except that "traditionally" (3-5 years ago) these fares were under $2000 round trip :( now we get this "heavy discount" to almost $3000

That Sunday after Thanksgiving also used to be a valid travel day for these fares -- not any more. Dec 1 is excluded.

Does aarp work? LAX is 2550 BA on AA metal, so can get it down to 2350?

Are you sure? Recently I've noticed that IAP doesn't seem to offer discounts on DL Z and at least some DL I fares. The fare rules have language about "no further discounts."

IAP is bringing WAS-ZRH down to about 2300 for the dates I’m looking at.

Not to London, but SQ has offered JFK to FRA on numerous occasions in recent years for $2K. Actually, the most recent offer from SQ would allow one to travel from the US all the way to SIN (via FRA stop or layover) for around the same cost.
