QR: ARN-HKG £1300 J - summer

I was sent a QR email today which included a 'special fare' link (ARN to Phuket) from SEK17,849. Although that was not of interest, clicking the link showed there were more destinations available including HKG, SIN (and others) at about the same price point SEK16,000, £1300 $1700 Here is the link , which you will see doesn't even show HKT so QR are really trying hard with their marketing.

I looked at HKG and found it wide open for 5-12 night stays (midweek flights only) in July and August. Note that I couldn't find these fare on Google flights.

A little care is needed in day/flight selection to avoid stupid layovers but there seems to be reasonable choice if you can be flexible. Note that according to various blogs, ARN-DOH is NOT Q Suites (except one flight from November onwards) but DOH HKG is indeed Q suites (on the 777).

Fare rules show book by July 31. RJSEP1ZX Change fees are $400+.

I did a dummy booking on Qatar direct and got these prices (allowing for currency differences).

Yup its been gone for several weeks - now back. Thanks.

I can get it on GF now.

Certainly seems to be one month max - otherwise 10-20% higher..

Also jumps dramatically by September. Weird because I guess that is when they will lose out totally on outbound to HKG with students returning to EU filling Westbound, especially UK universities. Ex EU that month is usually imbalanced especially early month in J.

ARN - HKG QR Feb 2020

IIRC it was around much of early 2019. But shot up from late April until recently. It disappeared just as I was in a position to book it.

It was even available one way at about 50% for much of the period

SIN & BKK were often slightlycheaper - certainly when HKG increased at times.

As others have posted, this level on QR prices from ARN/OSL/HEL to HKG, BKK but also SIN, HKT and , less frequently to other SEA destinations, have been coming and going during the last years. Personally, I'd wait and check during the coming three months. I'll be more surprised not to se these fares return.

Qatar website suggests qsuite on the evening flight from ARN.
Is this incorrect then?

To some degree it doesn’t matter as Qatar have a tendency for aircraft swaps; sometimes to aircraft with QSuites and sometimes to aircraft without them. It’s a bit of a gamble.

Yes, looks that way Feb 2020 and May 2020 are both available for £1330 (and I guess most in between).

I've had a QSuite on QR171/172 as advertised now (but it was a regular A350 when I booked). This is a recent change, though, and they may revert it.

Fare not available anymore, at least for the dates I wanted in May, unfortunately. I guess it will come back out of another Scandinavian departure point...

Went a day or so ago - now nearly £2K.

BKK same not checked other Asian destinations.

If it doesn't return n by Mid July will be booking RJ from CDG with two stop offs. The Mrs wants Doha but I prefer Amman for Petra plus BKK - she agrees that one

I have been looking for every departure point in Europe (Except the Balkans and Russia where it's hard to position) for QR flights to HKG or Japan. The cheapest I am able to see so far is still ARN-HKG but the price has increased of 200-250 Euros and since we will be 4 passengers it will be 1k more to spend. There is still the BUD-TPE via DOH and HKG available around 1500 Euros (Which I already booked for November) but the BUD-DOH are on the Airbus 330 (and also TPE is not supposed to be part of this trip).
For the ones interested, Singapore and Bangkok are still below the 1500 Euros mark ex-Sweden for the dates i have been looking at.
Hopefully QR will come up with something nice in the next few weeks...
