Interesting fare sale on an "exotic" airline, Xiamen from Los Angeles to Sydney via Xiamen with fares starting at $2583. Longish layover in Xiamen but Hotels (I believe) are provided by the airline.

LAX-XMN-SYD will obtain 23072 RDMs and MQMs and 4614 MQDs! Sadly MF credits at 100% to Delta and just 20% MQDs... FlyingBlue members would obtain 132 XPs (LAX-XMN at 36 each way) (XMN-SYD at 30 each way)

Fare has been around forever. Definitely an interesting way to get to Oz.

I so badly want to pull the trigger on this as I've heard great things about Xiamen Airlines. problem is the earning ratio for Delta. Only 20% MQDs.

XiamenAir is very good, and Xiamen City is a nice place to visit. HOWEVER, depending on your nationality, a visa may be necessary for the example itinerary provided because the return flight is not eligible for 24-hr twov (more than 24 hrs in China), or 72/144-hr visa-free transit (more than one stop in China). Check with the airline before booking.
