PE on CX: JFK HKG JNB r/t $2395

So, If I'm reading this correctly, and I understand the mileage rules, this could earn up to 75k miles when banked to alaska if you have mvp gold 75k....
Books in Class "E," which gets a 235% boost on miles, and should bank 32k miles base.
16 hour flight from JFK to HKG in PE on CX 777 then 13 hours from HKG to JNB
My first post in deals, but I feel like this qualifies for a certain segment.... 58 hours in PE for $2395 on a well regarded airline like CX?

Here's a sample. Is bookable directly with CX too for further mileage boosts with whatever card you like.

If you credited it to AA, you'd get 44,100 EQM's with 5881 EQD's.

That works out to 5.43 cpm (but remember, you're sitting in a more comfortable seat than economy) and 41cents per qualifying dollar.

Indeed, but boy oh boy, that is a long flight in PE (vs. business). Not sure my body could handle that one!

If the fare rules allow, I would spend a day or two in HKG to break it up. I have flown AA LAX-HKG in PE which wasn't too bad. I am sure the CX experience would be better.

If you are crediting to AS, CX PE has a 10% class of service bonus which is EQM.

Crediting to AS: - No EQD requirement.
32,347 EQM
47,050 RDM MVP
61,753 RDM MVPG
69,104 RDM MVPG75K

As an MVPG75K, doing this twice would generate almost enough (1792 RDM short) for a third trip in F TPAC & J to South Africa return.

PE fares can be included in the Premium Fares forum. I have asked the moderators to move it.

At 5.4cpm, it almost qualifies as a mileage run in and of itself.

You could always try your luck on Bid Now Upgrade to make this mildly less painful!

If your already an AA EXP or or other OWE you might get bumped up to J.

I've had it happen on a HKG-JFK PE fare once myself, and there are more reports here in the CX forum.

I've done LAX-HKG-AKL several times (about 1k miles shorter on each leg), and it's very do-able in CX PE

The seats are plenty comfortable(and I'm - 6'4"). For me, the biggest challenge in making that flight in PE vs J is simply keeping myself occupied in the less spacious seat and cabin (in J, I make a lap around the cabin and visit the galley every hour)

I have done YVR-HKG and SFO-HKG on CX and LAX-HKG and DFW-HKG on AA. What I don't have in height (I'm 5'11"), I make up for in width. To be honest, I wouldn't call it luxurious but it was doable each time I did it. The AA and CX P experience in terms of comfort was about the same each time. The only caveat to that was the old plane on the SFO-HKG was slightly less comfortable.

"E" is not upgrade-able.

JFK-HKG is a polar flight, right? It's a bit OT, but I was thinking if there were any flights going over the South pole as well, this route could be made into a vertical RTW.

Seems to be available to CPT as well, either directly from HKG or as a connection through JNB.
