stopover is allowed on higher F bucket fare for around 400 USD more (one-way). Alternatively, when booking return flight, outbound in A class without stopover and return in business C class with stopover up to 7 days allowed, the cost is around 1,650 USD.

I just have booked it.
Booking couldnt proceed via telephone agent because they couldnt price out.
I used the emirates website and changed the location to Sri Lanka and have done an advanced search. After playing a bit with the departure times i was able to book 3 tickets online.

Can this be priced on the US site?
On Apr 5, I (and, I'm sure, many/most/all other US-based Skywards members) got an email with a coupon code for $50 off econ / $250 off business / $500 off first per passenger (up to 9) for any EK booking. There is no limitation on destination but it must be booked on emirates.com/us.
$500 off this fare would be ridiculous; I'm not sure if it's possible to stack them. Sounds like "too good to be true" territory but it's worth a shot.

Edit: it looks like it's not possible. They force you to book from the site in the country of your departure city. So this code is only good for US departures.
