Stopovers in SYD add $US90 each way

Transpacific must be AA metal

Similar fare available to SEA,SAN,SFO,RNO

$US200 change fee, non-refundable

Prices out on ITA but seems to only link through with Powertools to aa.com Europe website

Interesting that with generous MPM these (DPS/JKT) can be routed through HKG, NRT or SYD. Also interesting to see how little extra mileaage it is to route thorough SYD. I would have thought that would break 12k miles...

Yes, because it is a Mileage fare you can make a cheapish Circle Pacific out of it at the same price DPS-SYD-LAX-HKG-DPS with a stop at each point. (I think that DPS-SYD-LAX comes in just under the MPM without having to add a surcharge)

That's pretty good. Aim for the A330 into/out of DPS instead of the 738 for lie-flat J.

If you could get the SYD-LAX on QF instead of AA... and a double status credit offer, this could earn 1,200 SC (enough to make renew QF Platinum / Oneworld Emerald)

Can you explain what you mean about the surcharge?

Thanks.

The A330 starts flying SYD/DPS/SYD in late March.

You need 1,400 SC to get QF Platinum if you are not already Platinum. 1,200 to renew QF Platinum.

For a MPM fare there is a pre-determined maximum number of miles you can fly between the origin and destination. The fare rules do not specify a routing so you can create your own routing (within reason). If your itinerary exceeds the maximum number of miles then this is OK but you have to pay a surcharge on top of the base fare to allow for the extra miles flown.

In this example: DPS/LAX has a MPM of 10,716 miles
DPS/SYD/LAX is 10,360 miles so you are within the MPM so no surcharge is applied
DPS/PER/SYD/LAX is 11,130 miles so a surcharge would be added.

But, just because a fare is a Mileage fare does not mean it is necessarily laissez-faire. The transfer restrictions on this fare should preclude an itinerary involving Perth as only 1 transfer is permitted in Area 3 (Asia/Oceania basically). Similarly you can go via HKG or TYO but not both. I'm not sure if you can put in a surface sector that might permit something more exotic but it looks like this fare limits you to DPS/JKT - SYD or HKG or TYO - LAX

1 TRANSFERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION
IN AREA 3 IN EACH DIRECTION
AND - 3 TRANSFERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION
IN AREA 1 IN EACH DIRECTION

Fair enough ... I was just trying to explain the principle of MPM fares and surcharge if you go over the MPM. But, yes you do have to consider the transfer rules as well.
