CX/BA: ARN - MEL via LHR & HKG in J 1997

Spotted this today when looking for deals towards the end of the year.

Sample dates 13th Nov - 4th Dec

https://www.google.com/flights#flt=A...2*2.GBP.199632

Anyone know the latest rules on missing the last leg from LHR to ARN?

If this covered Christmas I would be all over it like the proverbial. One can live in hope!

Same as they've always been; if no checked luggage and not doing it too often, walk out the airport and go on your way from LHR.

If with luggage, see if you can force the LHR-ARN leg on to the following day (if within 24 hours no charge) so you can have your luggage ticketed to LHR only, retrieve and walk out

Seems to work fine for BNE as well which is handy for those wanting to end up in Queensland.

Great spot and thanks brokenspirit

Thanks for the suggestion, adding the last LHR leg to ARN only puts the price up by about 20. I have heard stories though about airlines trying to charge a repriced fare without the last leg if it has been missed. I believe at least one person went to court and won - but I wonder how common it is for airlines to try.

If I'm reading this right (there's every chance I'm not) this looks to be quite an interesting fare...

Does it look to be fare code "IAARRSE8"

If so:
10 FREE STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT
2 IN HKG
8 IN AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND.
AND - 2 STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT AT EUR
100.00 EACH IN MALAYSIA/PHILIPPINES/LAOS/MYANMAR/
THAILAND/PAKISTAN/INDONESIA/VIET NAM/JAPAN/KOREA
REP OF SOUTH/CHINA/CHINESE TAIPEI.
AND - 1 STOPOVER PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT AT EUR
150.00
IN NETHERLANDS/GERMANY INBOUND
UNITED KINGDOM/SPAIN INBOUND
ITALY/FRANCE INBOUND
SWITZERLAND/BELGIUM INBOUND
IRELAND INBOUND.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Was taking a look to try and find potential available dates (but I couldn't), the only travel restriction seemed to be
VALID FOR TRAVEL COMMENCING ON/BEFORE 31DEC20.

It is possible to book the daytime flight from HKG then go on to ARN the next day. You could take your luggage home then decide if you want to go on to Sweden.

Yes , you are missing something (semi) obvious- this is a routing fare not an MPM fare and the valid routings are somewhat more restrictive than the stopover provision would suggest. So it would seem that your stopovers are limited to 1 free in HKG in each direction and 1 at EUR150 in Europe at the CX port at which you enter Europe on your return
