I had not previously been looking from WAS, but there is LAS to NBO for $2,100ish in November (for instance). This is a continuation of a deal previously posted on here with deep discounts on bundles on SkyTeam flights. Other origins have similar pricing, but you really have to play around with things.

I booked SLC-AMS-CPT-AMS-SLC all on KLM metal (787 and 777) late July 2019 for $2200, with one night at the Westin Cape Town (which I plan on using).

I saw this on Expedia. Thanks.

How do I take advantage of this type of fare and get the most benefit in my Delta FF program? Which flights should I avoid?

I want to maximize the earnings from flying on SkyTeam partners instead of the revenue based earnings on Delta.

I see these kinds of statements and I don't know what they mean:
  • Air France 3643 operated by Delta / Salt Lake City to Paris
  • Air France 864 operated by Joon/ Paris to Cape Town
Return:
  • Air France 8362 operated by KLM / Cape Town to Amsterdam
  • Air France 1741 / Amsterdam to Paris
  • Air France 8990 operated by Delta / Paris to Salt Lake City
Thanks!

OK, even though these flights are coded Air France flights, I will still collect Delta Skymiles from these flights correct?

What about the last leg from CDG to BOM, is says "Air France 218 operated by Joon" . Is Joon is low cost airline operated by Air France, or is it, or will be operational in the fall?

All your questions can be answered with barely a cursory reading of the skymiles website. You should start there

Only AF knows what the status of Joon will be in the coming months. That said, if you have a ticket booked on Joon and AF shuts them down, I'd expect AF to honor the ticket in some way. Whether or not what they'll offer will work for you, who knows, but at worst you'd get your money back.

So long as you give AF/KLM your Delta number you'll get credit with Delta, as always hold onto your paper BP until the credit shows up, sometimes there are issues. I caution that if you have an AF account you'll need to be careful that it's never associated with this ticket, my experience is that it's tough to get AF to push the miles to Delta once they credit them to Flying Blue. I lost 22K MQM once because I didn't notice.

So long as the ticket has an AF ticket number, the metal is irrelevant, you'll earn the same as if you flew on AF metal.

How does business class compare across KL, AF, DL, and AM (Aero Mexico)?

They are different. Have you checked out seatguru or each airline's website to see the differences?

They are all different and, on top of differences in carrier, they have different products on different planes. You need to check the aircraft that you'll be specifically flying to really get a good idea of what to expect. Generally you can google "AIRLINE AIRCRAFT business review" and get some pretty good results.

NO NO NO!
On an AF ticket, the flight needs to be OPERATED by a Skyteam member in order to credit to Delta.
If I have an AF ticket and fly AF flight 5099, I will NOT earn credit on Delta because the operating carrier is Air Mauritius.

Elizabeth will get credit for her flights in this instance becuase Joon is a subsidiary of AF and specifically spelled out on the Delta website as eligible for earning. But just because you have an AF ticket and an AF flight number does not mean you will get credit according to the AF chart. Makes sense that you've messed up in the past.

I have not found a way to make that happen. You'll probably be on the hook to get back to DEL from BOM at the end of your trip.

IMO for biz class:

1- Delta
2. AF/KLM (tie -- depends on equipment)
3. AM
