Excellent find, op!

I'm thinking that out of the three US connections, ORD, JFK, and IAD, I would pick IAD.

ORD has the issue with the train that connects terminals down until late 2019 - the bus replacements are problematic - and the AF/KL lounge in Terminal 5 is really mediocre. Terminal 7 @JFK...ugh! I can't comment on the BA lounge, though. Maybe it's nice. I guess you could go over to T8 for the Flagship Lounge but security @T7 is the worst. IAD uses the great Turkish Lounge and is interconnected so you don't need to go through security again.

Looks like you can skip Canada entirely if you want. DFW and ORD work in the $2300-2400 range on many dates. Other US gateways may work as well. So far it seems like a 7 night stay required.

No comparison of course, but CA is now offering YUL-PEK-BKK for USD $1,991.69

First saw it on GF, click link to CA site (CAPTCHA now necessary) and selected flights. Books into Business R and YUL-PEK is on their B789.

just saying....

FWIW, at the time I checked, ORD - DAD was about $200 cheaper for those same dates.

Yes about $2300 USD on only one leg of the trip. $4,600 return

Still not close to the fares from YUL, but JNB is US$3740 from DFW.
