FYI: If you want to book via AA.com and there are segments with PG, they won't ticket your reservation.

However, after some tinkering I've discovered you can book this fare on JAL's Thailand website, and I just got mine ticketed right away; stopovers included!
(quoted in THB, which is great for me)

managed to book RGN-BKK-HND-JFK-LAX-KIX-BKK-RGN. Now sitting in LAX, boarding to KIX flight soon. Many products, all different, good mileage (became emerald already). Thanks OP for the route!

QQ: If you credit this to AA, how does the JFK-LAX post? I'm assuming it does as a JL flight (2x EQM and 25% EQD) but wanted to confirm. Thanks!

It does. The lowest version of this fare is X booking class. None of the fares are I class, so apart from the J fare that is much higher and earns 3x EQM, they all earn 2x EQM and 25%EQD.

Just wondering if anybody still can tweak ita like this in a further date. I tried outbound in August and inbound in December, the system won't let me do this routing. I do see all of the simple 3-segment RGN-BKK-NRT-JFK itineraries available at the same price though. (I guess a possibility is that my input in ita was wrong somehow). Would greatly appreciate if somebody could kindly help.

Both the X and D class fare permit a stay that long (12 months is their maximum), so you've just probably done something wrong. It's very easy to construct a booking on the JL website, once you've worked out the dates and routing you wish with Matrix. There's no good reason to book with an OTA.
