OP, FWIW as a Japanese student studying abroad I'm always looking for deals to/from TYO to maximize mileage earning when flying back home.

Agreed. Flying the Nordics (e.g. SAS Plus out of CPH) gives good deals also. I'm not the world's biggest fan of LO but I'd take their J over any random airline's PE any day, if the ticket price was equivalent.
